This one keeps happening when airlines are shoddy with their data transmission and do not update passenger lists. You need to fix this ASAP, otherwise USCIS might continue your AOS as abandoned. Do you have written proof you cancelled the flight? Send that. A couple affidavits of people stating you haven't left the country also help.

That's exactly why I used a one-way to enter, as I read horror stories about that one.

I took a chance and purchased roundtrip tickets, but I pushed the return date way out and still was within 3 days of departure when AP was approved. We could have been in the same situation if not for approval prior to depature.

REALLY SAD STORY! - Must Read

Came to USA in Aug 2009 on F1 Visa - MS in Engineering from one of the Best Engineering Universities in the USA - Rank # 5 for Engineering

Graduated in May 2011

Working on H1B Visa since then for two different companies - both companies offered to file GC through employment but I turned it down as I was getting married to my then GF who is a USC.

Married in early Nov 2015.

Timeline of AOS:

Nov 17, 2015: Applied for GC through spouse

Early December: Biometrics Appointment

Dec 29, 2015: Interview notice for Jan 29, 2016

Jan 29, 2016: Interview (went well - lawyer was present; me and my spouse live together for 18 mths before we got married so used that as proof)

Case Pending - Held for further review

Feb 29, 2016 - Infopass at local field office (the guy there had no clue - said come back after 30 days if you don't hear anything)

March 25, 2016 : My grandmother fell very sick, critical ICU & lost consciousness in 4 days

March 28, 2016: I took an INFOPASS again, went to the field office and begged the officer to expedite my AP showing proof that she was critically ill in ICU; Female Officer at the window said she can't do anything and asked me to talk to my lawyer. She was VERY COLD.

March 28, 2016: I rushed to my Senators office to request help; they were so friendly and offered to work with USCIS to help push this through.

March 31, 2016: Another Infopass with a letter from lawyer requesting expedite; I was hoping to leave to India the next day April 1.

Again the same Female Officer, was so cold, said we cannot do anything here and we will send it to NSC. I had to cancel my ticket I booked sadly!

April 5, 2016: My grandmother passed away; I begged my lawyer to try anything expedite with death certificate on that day

April 6, 2016: AP gets approved but does not arrive yet

April 7, 2016: ICE (Immigration) Officers enter my home, walk around taking pictures all over, interrogating my wife with 30+ random questions (some sounded mean, but I guess it is their job)

April 8, 2016: I485 Green card Approved & AP arrives via mail.

Finally, I did not go to India as my grandmother's funeral was already over!!!!!

REALLY SAD STORY!

Oh I thought you had already your EAD/AP combo card. Mine was approved on April 5th and then the status changed to Card mailed on April 8th and I received it yesterday via Priority mail.

I heard that now it all depends our local office to set a day for the interview. :goofy:

I just got my email with the date of my interview. May 19th. Waiting for the letter with instructions. Anyone else got their interview scheduled?

Hopeful Imigrant and I are waiting for the date. Can you share your timeline? Did you wait a lot for them to schedule your interview date?

Hi guys,

a quick question to anyone who submitted service requests for EAD. Hubby and I submitted one today, as it is day 78 since we filed. We got a response a few hours later saying the case is still under review and we will receive an answer or notice soon.

My question: after how long did you guys actually receive an answer after filing a service request??

I honestly feel like Service Requests do absolutely nothing.

You definitely want to make an Infopass appointment.

Those, I feel, make a difference.

I filed service request on March 30. But still no answer. They say till on April 11 they will send me an answer. I call USCIS on 11 April and they say me to wait 30 days. Still now I was angry when they ignore my case. But not anymore. I don't need work, I am legal here so, no reason to be impatient. Good luck to you all..
