Hi.

I had my road test today at DMV. I passef, however she asked me for immigration papers. She did not accept my visa since it is expired - k1. So I handed in my EAD card which was issued 03/30/16 so it has been almost two weeks. However, the system did noy veryfy it and she could not issue me driving license. She said she needs to send it over and as soon as i am verified in SAVE database they will issue document. Does anyone has any insight on this? If the ead card was issued by goverment how come it is not in the system? Anyone has idea how long it may take?? Thanks

Hello noini89!

Unfortunately it is normal. I tried getting my DL before my visa was expired and I had the same outcome. They could not verify my status in the system, even though I was under an unexpired visa and already had the NOA for my AOS. The lady at DMV said it would take up to a week for them to mail me a letter confirming my status. It took about three weeks, but it all worked out and next time I came back I was able to take my road test - I think it works differently here in Texas.

I took a interview today, He was very kind and fast. The interview took for around 10 minutes.

As soon as we finish the interview, the I485 status changed to order new card.

They took away my Combo card and they gave me I551 stamp on my passport with official seal.

Everyone who has received green card congratulation! and those who are still waiting hopefully you will receive soon!

Were you transitioning from a K1? What kind of questions did they ask you and your SO? I read all the questions on here about what kind of questions they may ask and what evidence they may ask for, just looking for recent experiences with interviews. Our interview is on Friday and we have spent a good portion of today making copies of joint bank accounts, large purchases together in both our names, wedding and honeymoon pics, etc. Any information would be helpful.

Hello everyone! I just received my AED card yesterday on the mail... And an RFE for my AP lol

I was wondering if anyone can help me. This RFE said that USCIS records indicate I have departed prior to the approval. Apparently I was not aware that when you put an Intended Departure Date, USCIS understand you will do it even without an AP.

Anyhow, I thought of writing a letter explaining that I did not leave the US and use my I-94 as proof. Is there any other ways of proving it? Any suggestions?

Did you fly here with a round-trip ticket?

This one keeps happening when airlines are shoddy with their data transmission and do not update passenger lists. You need to fix this ASAP, otherwise USCIS might continue your AOS as abandoned. Do you have written proof you cancelled the flight? Send that. A couple affidavits of people stating you haven't left the country also help.

That's exactly why I used a one-way to enter, as I read horror stories about that one.

Ugh. I hate how any/every logic we use always fails us at some point. When I was doing that annoying immigration part at the airport, the officer asked if I had ways to go back home if after the 90 days I decided not to get married. And that worked back then, specially because they were all really rude saying I didn't know the culture and I wasn't ready for the United States. They actually said goodbye by saying "Well, you have 90 days to runaway" or some bs like that.

You really think that could affect my AOS even if it was on my AP? :( Well, I am getting everything ready either way and will send as soon as possible.

About the affidavits, you think I'd need to get them notarized?

Thank you for your help, TabeaK :)

I did a service request last 2nd of April and they just responded that my case is still under review and decision will be made shortly on the 4th of April which was Monday of last week.

hey guys, so I got my social right after i got married. It says "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION". I got my EAD in hand already.

Now im having A LOT of trouble getting a credit card and i think its because my social has that weird thing on it. I called the SS office and they said i need to have my perm rez card for about 10 days before i can come back in for ssc. I go to my new job tomorrow with paperwork including my ssc and Im worried they'll have a problem with it.

Any advice? Also those new to US, did you get a credit card? What kind?

I keep getting the same message when applying for a card that there is something wrong with my Social security number...

The SSN is the document Americans receive for employment, tax purposes, credit scores, etc. As we all know, we need one to get married too. Because you are not necessarily allowed to work if you married an American, the message on your SSN means that you can only work if you have authorization, which, in your case, is the EAD.

Since you have both your SSN and your EAD now you shouldn't face any problems.

About the credit card I am not quite sure yet, but it might be because you haven't stablished credit here yet.
