I just checked my I-485 status and it's now saying: "Notice Was Returned To USCIS Because The Post Office Could Not Deliver It".

I don't understand why I would be getting this message. What was returned to USCIS? Why was it returned?

This happened to me aswell at the start of February. I wasted 2 - 3 weeks by requesting a tier 2 IO to re-send the notice. They were extremely unhelpful and ended up sending me mail stating exactly what the update said, not the actual notice.

I decided to make an INFOPASS appointment and the IO there was extremely helpful. I was in and out in 20 mins. The IO couldn't figure out exactly what the notice was but he informed me that my case was in Caifornia and that it had a Potential for Interview Waiver on it, and there was no RFE or problems with my case.

It is definitely worth booking an INFOPASS appointment. Ringing USCIS and speaking to tier 1 and tier 2 was such a waste of time. And, the INFOPASS IO put my mind at ease.

And of course as I'm sure you already know, make sure your name is registered with USPS (if it already is, it is worth calling and speaking to USPS to make sure it doesn't happen again), and make sure that your full name is both outside and inside your letter box. And it doesn't hurt to update your address on USCIS's website, even if it hasn't changed.

Yes, I called Tier2 and they said they had no idea why I received this message. According to their end, everything looks fine.

The rep put in a service request regardless.

As you mentioned, I made an InfoPass appointment.

Unfortunately, the earliest available appointment is at the end of March. =(

Yeah my infopass appointment was a month after I got that terrible status update as well, almost to the day.

It absolutely sucks!

And it sucks that they don't actually update the status's all the time. USCIS sent me an email yesterday asking for website feedback - I was like "REALLY?!?"

Hopefully USCIS will get it all sorted you as soon as possible!

I saw one early Jan applicant with EAD - but that was expedited. Current averages till approval take 85 days - I am hoping for something in 30 days.

Curious why would hoping something would be over 50% faster be a reasonable expectation?

My current status says:

"we received your response to our Request for Evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status.

Our National Benefits Center office will begin working on your case again. We will mail you a decision or notify you if we need something from you."

This was on March 4th. I'm hoping we hear something soon. My husband filed his paperwork (k1) on January 4.

Yes, I am a K-1.

No, I just said my husband is the only one working and we need me to start working too.

It was after my biometrics taken.

I am really sorry for your situation, your best-bet would be to use your co-sponsor.

Please keep us posted how it goes. Also, are you involving your Congressman and/or Senator? It might help if they write to USCIS on your behalf.

My status changed yesterday from "Your card is being produced" to "Your case was approved". I guess they mailed out the card.

Yes, I involved my Congressman too. I think it helps, I would say to contact them since it's a free service...and better safe then sorry!

I am starting to work tomorrow ;)

I am really sorry for who is stuck in this process. I know it is really frustrating...I feel super lucky to have been able to get my biometrics done, and have EAD approved.

But you'll get there! For who comes from K-1 visa, just think that now you are together!!!!
