I got my NOA1 on the 29th of January but still no letter for biometrics! Should I be worried?

You definitely should have already called and spoke to Tier 2. At least a couple of weeks ago.

There is a high possibility that your Biometrics date already passed or the USCIS (don't know how this happens) doesn't have your address on file.

It should be stickied somewhere: If you haven't received your Biometrics letter by 2 weeks post NOA1 date, you need to call and speak to Tier 2 immediately.

You can reschedule, yes. Bit of a pain in the butt though, so only recommended for emergencies. People have done it successfully.

i know it seems silly to worry about that so early because what are the chances that I'd have the AOS interview the 1 or 2 days of the whole year that i know I'll be doing something i cannot by any means reschedule... with my luck, odds are against me lol.

I rang USCIS but the woman wouldn't put me on with someone from tier 2 and she filled a status report or something. Should I ring them back and ask to speak to someone from tier 2 again?

Unfortunately, status report means nothing.

Yes, request to speak to Tier 2. Tier 1 does not have the information Tier 2 does. Tier 1 basically has the same info you do. Tier 2 has all the details (whether your biometrics was scheduled, whether a letter was sent out, etc.)

I just received a text update that a 'Request for Initial Evidence' has been mailed. Any idea how long it takes for RFE to actually reach by mail? Also, do you guys know if I can call USCIS to know what the RFIE is about?

I am traveling for the next 10 days and am worried that this will complicate matters of a timely response from my end.

It is one of those things that can take a long time or no time at all. I received my letter a day after they changed my status on USCIS.

Sadly, you cannot call USCIS to find out about the RFE. Gotta wait for the letter.

Well, that's a somewhat promising sign then.

I was told the same thing for over a week when I called. Although it was Tier 1 that said this to me.

If it'll make you feel better and give you some peace of mind, I'd say to call back and speak to another Tier 2 rep.

The only reason I say this is because I spoke to 3 Tier 2 reps in one day and was given a completely different answer by all 3 reps.

Thanks TabeaK and themartinez. I will just try and be patient then. :-)

This news of receiving RFE really sucks. I really hope they don't want 2015 tax returns of my I-864 co-sponsor. My mother-in-law (the co-sponsor) tends to file taxes at the very last moment, and I donno how in the world I can make her file taxes a bit early, if I need to.

From what I have heard and gathered, 2015 tax documents are only required if you file after April 16th,someone correct me if I am wrong . Also I just noticed that they updated the poverty guidline figures on march 1st , have also heard that as long as you filled before march 1st, you are adjudicated under the previous figures. Any one with some knowledge or info on that?

If the RFE has to do with the I-864 for your joint sponsor, they will most likely request that you send in the most recent tax return, in your case, it would be for the year 2014 because a) she has yet to file her 2015 taxes and b) the April 15th deadline hasn't passed yet.

So if she hasn't filed her 2015 taxes yet, her most recent taxes would be 2014.

We received an RFE for my husband's joint sponsor I-864 and the letter requested most recent tax return. The joint sponsor has already filed their 2015 taxes so they gave us a copy of their 2015 transcripts and we sent that.

Now we are waiting for any news.

Good luck! Hope the RFE is a quick and easy one to reply to.

Congrats.

This sounds about right. I got an RFE at the end of February. So I think they are going through their rounds of acceptances for our submission period.

Just checked our case status online.

As of March 8, 2016, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number *************, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice.

There are good days ahead my friends. The other two case numbers we received still say the same thing since the end of January.

Congrats.

Ok so I Just checked my status and it says as of March 8 your case will be scheduled for an interview I am so thankful..

Is this normal because the employment authorization status has not changed it still say the same thing that they have received it... Anyone else has this happen.

Hey,

I'm sorry to hear.

I got my RFE on a Wednesday and Received it to the following Monday, I think. I have the dates in my signature. I sent it back on the following Wednesday and received confirmed of receipt yesterday.

Hello Everyone,

So far I'm waiting for the hard copy in the mail. So far I read that three people have received RFEs. Could you tell me if is missing documents or maybe financial documents missing? I feel so frustrated right now.

Thanks guys. I hope the hard copy arrives quickly and we can take quick action. Will keep you guys posted.

I think in my case, it could be latest tax returns of co-sponsor (mom-in-law) and/or petitioner (spouse), i.e for 2015. We have already submitted past tax returns for 2014, 2013, 2012 though. It could also be a request for my I-612 approval, which I already have for my J-1 visa but may be USCIS did not connect my files, i.e. I-612 with I-485.

Whatever it is, I wish all of us get swift EAD/AP approvals. It feels like life is in a limbo right now with so much uncertainty!
