Hello!

We have our interview on April 6th and if/when we get approved do I have the right to get the stamp in my passport then and there? I asked an officer at my biometrics app. and he said yes but then I've looked at AOS timelines and people doesn't seem to get the stamp? What if your green card takes several months...? And the EAD takes forever...

And also what determines if you get a "namecheck"? And also if you do not get an approval at the actual interview?

Help would be extremely appriciated!!

Thanks!!

Couldn't hurt to ask for it if it isn't offered. :)

I do not know when you entered the country but the "stamp" in your passport (even if you received it) would expire after being in the country for 90 days after date of entry at the POE because that is only how long a K-1 is work authorized. In conjunction with the "stamp" you need a valid unexpired I-94. After that your only choice is to wait for EAD or AOS.

she is talking about the PR stamp, not the EAD stamp.

Anecdotal evidence on VJ shows most do not receive the stamp with the local office citing - it will only take 2 weeks to receive the card. I would suggest attemtping to get it if you can! You never know what may happen (documents undelieverable, name misspellings, etc.)

good luck on your interview.

Thank you! I thought the card takes longer than 2 weeks to get??

Do you know who gets the "namechecks" and why?

thank you...

many take more than 2 weeks to receive, as dr Iha mentions above. Everyone applying for this immigration benefit goes through namecheck. hopefully by the time your interview comes up, yours will be complete!

Huh? What does the temporary stamp for K1 work authorization have to do with what the OP asked about? The OP was asking about the I-551 stamp that serves as temporary evidence of permanent residence once AOS is approved while they wait for their green card to be issued.

It depends on the DO whether they issue the stamp at the interview, because as mentioned previously, if you are approved at the interview, it usually only takes a couple weeks to get your green card. If there is a delay with the card after approval, you should be able to make an InfoPass appointment and get a stamp.

Let's hope so! Hopefully I'll get someone nice who will give me the stamp...

Thanks!
