N-400 January 2016 Filers

You can call USCIS to find out what you can do now but I guess you should wait for interview. The IO will review your application during interview, you will be asked all 'yes/no' questions from N-400 form so you can explain that to the officer and he/she fix your mistake.

I called USCIS and they asked me to mail out a letter to UCIS (did not mention which location) saying that I've made a mistake on my N-400 and if they could correct it for me. Then I asked one of the lawyers about my situation and he suggested that I should type a letter and take it to the local USCIS office by making an InfoPass appointment and so I did on Friday. First, the receptionist told me that they can accept the letter and I will have to mail it in. But when I talked to the officer, she suggested that I should wait until I receive a notification/letter from USCIS asking about the mistake made on N-400, otherwise, just wait until my interview and mention it to the officer right away. So I guess I am going to do that, hopefully, this does not delay my application process which already is delayed.

Your Case Status: Testing and Interview

On March 21, 2016, we started the interview scheduling process for your Form N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION, Receipt Number NBC*00000000. We will send you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

If your case status indicates that you are currently in this step, you have either been scheduled for an interview or are in line to be scheduled for an interview. The amount of time your application will remain in this step will vary by office and is largely determined by the number of cases ahead of yours. The interview notice will have specifics about time, location and anything you will need to bring to your interview. If your application remains pending beyond our normal processing times (as shown below) please contact our national customer service center at 1-800-375-5283. Please note that not every application/applicant will require an interview. In some instances, an interview is required by regulation and others an interview is requested because USCIS has determined that this is the most efficient means to determine eligibility. For a naturalization application the interview will include your taking the required English and/or Civics tests (unless exempt or waived).
