Did you know: January 26th is National Spouse Day

This process is not for the weary..it's extremely frustrating...I'm sure everyone does this on a daily basis but take a minute to let your significant other know you love them and this process is just a few pages in your book of togetherness!

Stay strong everyone..and Happy Spouse Day!??

How exactly do they determine these interview dates? I ask because you see a range of days for the same country. Is it just the luck of the draw or that some people just luck out with a short time because for that month there was not as much applicants?

What they did tell me at the NVC was that all the U.S embassies report their openings at the END of each month so, it would make sense that if a date is opened in the next month at the start of the following month, you get a 30-40 day wait, I would suspect. .

Clarification on 1864s-

So I will have joint sponsor. Me and sponsor both will submit 1-864. Sponsor filed jointly and sponsor's spouse will need to fill out 1-864A. Right? Please advise me if I'm wrong. I would appreciate.

I will help elaborate because I was checklisted on this very matter. IF your joint sponsor does NOT make enough alone to sponsor your spouse, and they wish to use the income of a household member to add to their I-864, then YES the household member needs to file I-864a. If the joint sponsor makes enough alone, they do not need a household member. If you have any more questions, please ask, I don't want anybody to be checklisted!

Thank you so much. Yes, sponsor makes more than enough. Sponsor filed jointly and have a child on more than 50,000. So I wouldn't have to use i-864a? Also, sponsor' s spouse doesn't work. So I( petitioner) and sponsor will fill out only I-864.

Yes my mistake was putting down a 'household member' (joint sponsors spouse) and not adding an i-864a, so as long as you don't claim to be using anybody elses income along with yours, you will be fine!

Since Tax time is starting....for those of us that haven't gotten to the point of submitting our AOS and IV documents yet....do we now have to submit our 2015 tax information or will 2014 and 2013 still work?

I am sending in the 2015 taxes. It shows married filing joint.

Okay thanks a lot. It's clear now that I will need two i-864 one completed by me (petitioner ) and second by sponsor.

Ok thanks. I'm asking my CPA friend what and how to properly file it this year. I was reading that MFJ means having to fill out a W-7 to get an ITIN since my husband has never been to the US and doesn't have an SSN nor has filed for an SSN yet. oh the joys of immigration and taxes.

Only if you want to update your tax info. 2015 is not required or asked for until April 15. Now some embassies I have seen in the past asked a few weeks earlier. It all is about the sponsors income some people if they are shaky with 2014 and current filing 2015 builds their case better.

I say if you don't have to don't until after. This way you can wait for spouse to get here get SS# and file Married filing jointly. No need to amend or submit updated AOS at interview which can get you put in AP or delayed.

That I do not know, but you can check in Dwheels76 spread sheet, use the find function under EDIT and search for all the LIBERIA members and then you can average the time between CC, Interview Letter (IL) and the actual interview date.

Also you can call NVC and find out the date they send the package to your embassy, with that date you can track it in DHL and see when was delivered at the embassy.

I hope this helps!!

Liberia isn't one that you will see. Think you may be the first. Also your petition doesn't go out to embassy until you are scheduled a interview so there's nothing to track.

By estimates March scheduled for some embassies should start probably tomorrow. Keep your eyes on the Interview thread. I got my ears to the ground.
