Well, I was bored and did some research on how busy NVC is:

On Fiscal Year 2015, NVC processed over 1/2 million immigrant visas, exactly 531.463. I am not including the 9,932,480 non-immigrant categories because my understanding is they are processed by the local embassies and consulates.

So, a fiscal year has 253 working days, therefore NVC processed an average of 2100 visas every day, that is a lot of visas.

I could not find out how many employees actually work on these cases, I estimate they need at least 1 hour per case and that is probably not enough, so each employee may be works on 8 cases per day.

DOES NVC HAVE OVER 262 EMPLOYEES JUST WORKING ON CASES? I DO NOT KNOW.

Source of data: http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/AnnualReports/FY2015AnnualReport/FY15AnnualReport-TableI.pdf

This is some sort of survey by NVC employees about NVC: http://www.indeed.com/cmp/National-Visa-Center/reviews?fcountry=US

I let you be the judges about how efficient or inefficiency NVC is.

I believe we should cut them some slack, their working conditions are not the best and they are under a lot of pressure to meet quotas or goals. They are under lots of scrutiny and layoffs are pretty common.

I reconsider my opinion and have respect for these employees, apparently management is the problem.

What are you thoughts fellow VJ members?

A Team at NVC is about 50-60 employees and that was in 2012. - http://centuria.com/kristy-team-lead-department-of-state-national-visa-center/

The NVC is operated by a private contractor with more than 400 employees. The Department of State has five supervisory employees who work there. The FBI has one employee assigned to the NVC. - http://www.imminfo.com/visa/consular-processing/overseas-consulate-visa-processing/31-national-visa-center

As for the part about us giving them a break, i´m all for it :) As soon as they are done with our cases ;)

What are you thoughts fellow VJ members?

Your research is somewhat flawed.... I do not say that all NVC employees do not work hard and the bigger problem is management....but the most bigger problem is NVC employee attitude and do not care arrogance behavior.....They are not very efficient in there work.... I am an engineer and i can tell you one thing....you do not have to super expert to do the immigration job once you have done that for quite sometime you should be able to do it very quickly because the documents are very much standard and all Immigrant visa require same document... Now the I-864 review is tricky but once you get into rhythm you should be able to look for mistakes very quickly....but again the blame mostly falls onto management that they are not making process more efficient and possibly hiring people who are not taking there job very seriously... Remember this is very critical there are many people like us who are just waiting to be with there loved ones by following legal channel.... And if i have submitted all my papers on time it should be taken up and reviewed quickly because waiting for 45 days and then giving a checklist and then start the clock again for next 45 days.... this is not fair the first thing they should do is verify if person documents are OK and if not notify them ASAP not after 45 days and again 45 days and again 45 days till he get everything done....

I am not going to defend my research, one thing I can say, it is not a complete research, it is just what a couple of Google searches gave me.

Personally, I have made several calls to NVC and I never encounter what you described as ".but the most bigger problem is NVC employee attitude and do not care arrogance behavior..."

Every NVC employee or contractor who answered my call was very polite and with some I had a short casual chat about the weather, holidays, etc.

From your efficient and analytical engineering point of view, how many cases per day an employee should process?

I believe the arrogance is coming from your part flashing your engineer credentials to judge these contract employees as inefficient and to qualify my "research" as flawed.

I am not saying they owe us anything but they should do the job they are suppose to do... Also US is land of immigrants and way US is great because of it's immigration policy which allow quality and educated and deserving people to come here and fulfill there dreams and achieve something in there life.... Now if i qualify and meet there criteria and i am eligible i should not be penalized because somebody does not do there job efficiently and again not every person at NVC is bad or not doing job... I really appreciate few people i have been in contact with but since it's a contract agency who handle most of work you can imagine quality of work.... USCIS is very thorough and they do there job efficiently.... but NVC is becoming bottleneck now... and a big fault is management not doing there job by making process efficient...

Also go and talk to people whose documents NVC have lost and never admitted there mistake and just rudely ask them resubmit because they do not want to look for it and then never did any consideration for his case and just put it back into queue.... I hope you get your case processed quickly but do not forget there are many individuals who are not very lucky like you and me and there case just sit at NVC for somebody to look at there case.... And again i pointed out it's management fault mainly.... And because you are lucky that does not mean you always get to judge the case because of your encounters only just go and read a lot of other people cases who are delayed at NVC for 7 months to 2 years +

Okay.

I have never personal not talked to someone in NVC, that was not meeting me, how i was talking at them.

So it´s all about the mindset we have at the time we call.

Please let keep the post about the cases and not about if people what/what not when they call NVC.

And Frank i think there is 6-10 teams working there, i found pictures from the places on facebook, and even from the storage of files, there is many many many there :)

May you all have a good day/evening.

Very right I agree it's just people when it's involve loved one you get emotional and frustrated on this whole process and I do not blame anybody at nvc particularly its just that they should be somewhat supportive to the callers and make process more transparent that all it will take right now this black box process thing creates confusion and dissatisfaction to people dealing with process both side at nvc and us who are just told to wait.....

Hello all, I have a few questions. My husband was down visiting for our anniversary and such, and I figured while he was here I would try to send him back to Canada with most (if not all) of the documents necessary for the interview- just to cut back on shipping fees.

From my understanding he needs evidence of my residence, so I was going to send up things such as bank statements. How recent do they need to be? And should the envelopes be opened or closed?

Also, when using a joint sponsor who's i-864 do i need to bring? Mine? Sponsors? Sponsors as well as household member? All of em?

Thank you!

You don't have to prove proof of domicile if you live in US. Proof is for those who live abroad with their spouse.

Everything you submitted to NVC is sent to embassy. Sure be great to have a copy of your AOS package. But not required.

Thanks for the input Dwheels! I was just going based off the Montreal list I found on the Travel.state.gov website. Is it just a general list of things that will be at the interview? Will we get a specified list of items when we get our interview date? It doesn't delve too much in to specifics on the site!

Montreal has DCF or use to so much of whats stated are for those filing directly with embassy.

Yes when you get interview letter you will get your own checklist if it was submitted to NVC no need to redo. Just bring originals to interview thats required with the DS-260 confirmation page.

Only if there is an update to I-864 do you need a new one at interview. Some are updating because they are filing their 2015.

What are the "Scan date" and "CC" that many of you are referring to? Thanks

Scan date 1/4 I expect CC by 2/8 . Praying for sooner. So we shall see.
