I haven't received the NOA2 in the mail yet. I just got my approval (text, email and myUSCIS.gov approval) on Wednesday of this past week. i'm hoping the actually notice will get to me early next week. Meanwhile, I had my husband start gathering the documents he would need for the IV packet months ago and i've already started gathering the documents i would need to provide in the AOS packet. If you haven't started doing that already, you should. most of the time, delays happen because people wait until they received the welcome letter and information from NVC to even start gathering the information.

From what i've read on VJ, from the date of your petition approval, wait at least 2 weeks then start calling NVC to confirm that they've received your petition. Once they confirm they have received it, wait another 2 weeks from the received date and call them to see if they assigned you a case number and Invoice Identification Number. You can then go online and start paying the fees, do the IV application, etc... don't wait to receive the welcome letter (if you ever get one) to keep things moving.

This link was a great deal of help for me. read through each step so you know what to expect.

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html

VJ also has a link to the NVC process but I don't have that handy to send you. Good luck!!

Thanks so much! Unlike you, I didn't get a text, email or update...only the surprising notice by mail and the case status online still hasn't been updated. Let's keep one another posted and best of luck to you as well :)

I spoke too soon! I got my NOA2 in the mail today....3 days after I was approved!!! the letter states they have sent my petition to the Department of state.

LoveInGhana.....did you still receive a text saying your petition has been sent to NVC after you got your NOA2 in the mail or just the NOA2 hard copy? if they really have sent my petition to NVC already, then i'm planning to start calling them on the 27th to see if they received it.

i'm more optimistic about this part going quicker than the first part with USCIS. a new hope has sprung in me. :)

Petitioner does not need it in the IV packet. This would only be if the beneficiary has had a divorce.

Mine took about two weeks. But I've seen people getting it in a week or so. I suggest call the NVC to have them review Ds-261 over the phone.

Congratulations I have added you to the spreadsheet.

You will probably get a March interview and that should start about end of January 1st week or so of February. I believe most embassies are done with February scheduling.

Call NVC end of next week to get your DS-261 reviewed. That unlocks the IV fee.

Hey guys.....i have a question. My husband lived and worked in Liberia for over 12 years. When i did a search last year, i saw someone had posted a picture in the Gallery section of VJ that was a letter they received during his process, which on the back talked about Police Clearance Certificate that shouldn't be attempted to retrieve because they are aware it's pretty much a waste of time.

http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=13

Is this still valid? Then on the reciprocity page of the Department of State it also says the below....but Note section confuses me as to if he needs to really try to get one or if they are aware it's a waste of time. anyone know? Is the Note mentioned below for Residents of Liberia or is that for non-residents as well?

Court/Prison Records

Not available.

Police Records

Applications for Liberian police clearances must be made IN PERSON at the Records and Identification Section of the Liberia National Police Headquarters in Monrovia. The cost is 200 LD or US $5 per application. The record review process is done manually and typically takes one to two (1-2) weeks. In practice, however, the review process can take as little as five (5) business days and as long as three (3) weeks.

Applicants not resident in Liberia can request that their biographic information and fingerprints be sent to the Liberia National Police via the police headquarters of their home country, however, in practice, these requests are rarely completed.

Note: The Liberia National Police does not maintain a nationwide criminal database. As a result, the Headquarters typically does not have records of crimes committed in the outer counties of the country. As of 2014, two (2) letters of support – one from a community leader and one from the community police station are required to begin the police clearance process.
