Hi, Our PD is 07/29/15 we got approved 12/16/15 and we're already starting to prepare our package so it's all set and ready when the time comes.

Questions:

1. I requested Tax Transcripts from the IRS and received them today (12/31/15). I opened the envelopes to check if I got the right years, then I wondered if these transcripts need to be sealed when sent to the NVC? Because If I don't open them, how can I make sure I am sending the right ones?

2. Base on our approval date, give or take 5-8 months. We might receive the WL and be required to send the package by May of 2016. If everything happens in May, and April 2016 is the tax season for 2015, would we need to update the transcripts that we have acquired (2012, 2013, 2014)?

3. If ever we get lucky and get processed early, say April, right on tax season, do we need to wait to file for 2015 before we can send the package?

4. Would we encounter problems if we prepare this early? For example, transcripts requested are dated 5 months before actually sending the package or the signatures on the I-864 are dated so early from the date we actually send them?

Thank you in advance.

Sorry for a lot of questions. I'm trying to solve all possible scenarios as early as now so we know what to do when we stumble on them in the future. Better be well prepared. :P

Don't worry - it's OK if you opened them. They are not secret. Be sure to make copies before you send them in!

2. Base on our approval date, give or take 5-8 months. We might receive the WL and be required to send the package by May of 2016. If everything happens in May, and April 2016 is the tax season for 2015, would we need to update the transcripts that we have acquired (2012, 2013, 2014)? If you send the package in May 2016, you will have to have tax seasons 2013, 2014 and 2015 UNLESS you have filed an extension for 2015. Then you would include the paperwork showing you have filed an extension instead of the 2015 transcript.

3. If ever we get lucky and get processed early, say April, right on tax season, do we need to wait to file for 2015 before we can send the package? If you send your AOS prior to April 15, 2016, you can get away with 2012, 2013, and 2014 transcripts. But be prepared to have the 2015 transcripts in your hand in case they want to see them at the interview (we sent AOS on April 15, and had our interview on July 1 and were NOT asked for updated tax transcripts). If you are close to the poverty line - be ready to have those 2015 transcripts ready.

4. Would we encounter problems if we prepare this early? For example, transcripts requested are dated 5 months before actually sending the package or the signatures on the I-864 are dated so early from the date we actually send them? Don't worry about the dates on the transcripts. Just be sure the dollar figures on the transcripts are the same figures you put on the I-864.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you Sukie for your detailed response. Much appreciated!

I've got another question, would the transcripts be enough? Or am I required to include the 1040 and W2 in addition? Just making sure. Thanks again!!!!
