Once your case file reaches the embassy you are free to email them and request an earlier date. So just keep monitoring when it gets there. Noticing they are holding many cases until about 2 weeks before interview so doesn't leave too much room for change. See the first post for example of a letter someone wrote.

thank you, for all the help! :)

I know that at the interview my husband has to have the original + a copy of: his birth certificate, previous divorce certificate, our marriage certificate, and his VOG (police certificate). But I also see that everyone is also asked for the affidavit of Support at the interview. Does this have to be an original (with ink signatures) as well? Or can it be a copy? We did everything with our lawyer and sponsor long distance through mail and email. So we don't have the "originals".

Hi VJ,

After following the forum for several months, I've decided to post my frustration as many of you might be travelling in the same boat as me. We've submitted the documents to NVC on the 15th of October and received a checklist on the 15th of November. The checklist is very unreasonable and it shows the lack of knowledge of people working at NVC. The person who reviewed my documents expected my birth and marriage certificates to be translated documents and they were requesting for originals. But the truth is, my country(India) issues all certificates in English and these are not translated documents. I currently reside in the UK and these documents were previously accepted for immigration purposes. I've tried to covey this message to the supervisors at NVC from the past 45 days and no one seems to be bothered. On the 24th of November my husband has sent the documents again as some one at the Call Center told him that sending them again will resolve the checklist faster. But this is totally untrue and I've been waiting from 45 days and they haven't reviewed our documents yet. It was escalated to a supervisor on the 8th of January and they were quoting 42 days from that day. I'm so frustrated because I've called every single day like a fool to convey that simple message that our country issues these documents in English. I was on the phone with them for 2 hours everyday. But nothing has happened. Our checklist scan date was 24th of November. Did anyone have their cases complete whose scan dates were 24th of Nov or after?

Hi kk1. So sorry this is happening to you.

I have heard about this case before. In certain places in India, documents are only issued in English. In other places, they are issued in both Urdu (I think) and English. Obviously, the person working your case believes that your original documents are in some language besides English. In fact, the manual they are using might even state this.

Can you find something - a law book, a document online, or something similar, that states that the official language of your State is English? If you can prove that your original documents are in English, then you should be OK.

It will definitely be a fight, as the clerks will only believe what's in their manual - even if the manual is incorrect (it happened to us). We had to PROVE that the manual was incorrect.

Best of luck to you. Again, I know this has happened to other Indians...and they have finally gotten through.

Oh I've never heard about it. I will try to search online but will that be another checklist? Do you know how anyone else have resolved such checklists? I have a lawyer on the case. May be he can help? Thank you for taking time to reply to me.

Hi dwheels76,

Exactly, I don't see what the issue is. These documents are in English... so they've assumed them to be translations and sent me a checklist. If they are processing week 12/7, I don't know why my case won't have any updated actions on it. I'm living in UK alone with my toddler from 2 years waiting on this. I'm not sure what I can do :(

What I would do since they assume its translated is just go get a certification signed by a translator and resend the document? Just to appease them.
