Ok so this may be a little complicated- if you have more questions feel free to post them.

Subrogation is a term used by insurance companies. It basically means or is used when an insurance company is seeking reimbursement from the person legally responsible for an accident after the insurance company has paid out money.

So based on what you wrote it appears you went to the hospital or Dr complaining of some pain. The insurance company is asking what happened? They are looking to see if someone else is able to be held responsible for the charges. For example if it was a car accident that caused it- the charges may be able to be paid through the auto insurance not your personal health insurance. If you were injured at someones home- it may be able to go through that persons home owners insurance. Or work. Get it?

Its not a very big deal. I am a little confused about why the letter is seemingly coming from a 3rd party now but you can contact your insurance company and verify it was sent to you by them through the other company if you want.

Thank you, i just read again the first letter from the insurance company, they mentioned to call the NAME of the company who just sent me the second letter so the goal of this letter is to find out if the treatment/pain was caused by somebody to reimburse the health insurance ? hope i understood

in my case there is no accident or......that means they will just need to hear this information right? that means the health insurance is not going to have any reimbursement from any body. i hope i understand the whole story

Correct, they were just looking to see if there was a way of mitigating their losses.

Basically, they don't care that you got hurt, they want to know how you got hurt, so that they can try to avoid paying some or all of your bills and pass the buck to another company. Our company deals with this on a daily basis when contacting insurance companies for reimbursement of rendered services.

Not quite, subrogation is where they pay first and then seek to recover their outlay.

I don't know really if i should give a call to this company and provide them with my personal info to let them know there was no incident/ injury.... or just keep ignoring those letters , i have looked online and somebody asked the same question and said he received the same letter They: (the company) end the letter with, "If we do not receive this information, we will conclude you are not going to cooperate with your health plan in the claims process and will proceed accordingly." and when i googled the name of the company i found its subrogation company with reviews says its scam,

I'll give you an example. My mom (in her 70s) started having a lot of health problems over the course of two years. The doctors wanted to run a bunch of tests, like xrays of her spine and shoulders. Based on those, they then wanted her to try out some physical therapy before attempting some injections. She did this for a while, but ended up needing injections anyway. On about her second injection, a letter came just like the one you describe. They wanted to know what the nature of the 'injury' was, and if it had been caused during a car accident or at the workplace. None of these things applied to her of course, so she responded to the letter by calling them. It's a routine thing and no problems. They were just seeking to know if they could have sought payment from an involved party's insurance (such as if the injury had been a result of an accident).

If you would like verification of the letter you could try giving your insurance company's claims department and see if they can confirm it.

I don;t think it can hurt to call your own health insurance company about the original letter - you can feel confident since you know they already have your personal information. Like the person above mentions....the insurance company's claims department should know all about this letter.

Yes, it is important you respond. If you dont- well...

See what you posted here-"If we do not receive this information, we will conclude you are not going to cooperate with your health plan in the claims process and will proceed accordingly" I know this was not written on your letter. But if you keep failing to respond you will soon get a letter with wording like that. What that means is you have a terms of use agreement with your health insurance co. You agreed to certain things when you enrolled. One is providing them with correct information when they ask so that they can as another poster stated pass the charges along to the correct party if applicable.

If you fail to do that they can do a variety of things from cancel your policy to refuse to pay the charges/ or ask you for reimbursement of the money they already paid on the claim. You dont want any of that to happen.

You already stated the name of the company sending you the letter was referred to on the previous letter from your health ins co. So theres no reason to believe it is not legitimate. Again, you can call your health ins co and verify.
