Happy holidays everyone! It's blessing to be with my fiance after 2 months in AP. I am K1 and I Am about to apply for a drivers license here in California and was told by a friend that I need an I-94 to apply. My question is what are the requirements for a drivers license as a K1 and what's an I-94? I came up Dec 14, getting married Feb 19th. Thank you.

~God bless~

If you go to the search area and lookup I-94 you will be able to find a link to where you can find your I-94 and print it out to bring with you. You should get your Social Security card with it first so you can get your drivers license. Your K-1 turns into the I-94 upon US entrance. It's electronic now.

In general you will only be given a US licence for the duration of your current immigration status, so once you have EAD your licence will be valid along with that, for 1 year. If you get one with your I-94 it will be valid as long as that is. You need to check with your local MVA about your Jamaican one, it may be able to be used for a month or two (typically) but check.
