Hi everybody,

i have a simple question i really appreciate your help. Im in USA with CR1 visa . In process to remove condition on green card

I got 2 letters from DMV in different times, reminding of expiration of my ID , the last letter is to renew my ID because its going to be expired in 1 month, i just received the 1 Extension letter from USCIS,

what do i have to do now? go to DMV and renew my id for 1 year? or just show them the letter and wait until i receive the new 10 y green card then apply for ID? My driver licence has different expiration date

Thanks , and good luck

Hmm, if you already have a driver's license then a state ID isn't necessary. You could just let it expire or take the 1 year extension letter to the DMV and get your ID renewed.

Thank you for your answer, yes the driver licence still good , just the ID card will expire next month , i think its better to renew my ID card when i receive the new green card, how can i renew the ID now if i just have 1 year extension letter, that means the ID will be good just for 1 year!

I don't see a point why you want to renew the ID. State ID are given to those who do not initially possess driver license. Since you already have driver license which is a better form of ID, you can ignore the state ID part and renew the license when its about to expire.

You don't need a State ID anymore when you have a valid driver's license.

Oh i didn't know that, that means i should just show them the letter to stop mailing me

You don't even have to show the letter to the DMV. As long as your driver license is valid, you don't have to do anything at this time. Good luck!

Thank you so much, and when i will have the new green card, i can if i want apply for (ID)card? i know my DL is ID
