Well I got two letters yesterday one for my I130 and another for the I 129F. Both of them say that we are stuck in background checks and that they wont make a decision untill these have cleared. I have heard of people stuck in checks at the nvc stage and after the consulate BUT how many people have gotten stuck at ths USCIS stage, and if so how long did it take for you to get cleared at this level? The two letters say to wait for 6 months and if we dont hear any thing by then to give them a call back. AGGGG. Back in October I got a letter sayin that our I129F was processing but that it needed further review or additional review something like that..... to wait 6 months and then give them a call back. Well when I did call back I get this letter now that says wait another 6 months. At this rate we are getting no where. The only reason why i think we even got this response was because I contacted my senator and he put in a congressional, had I not done that we would still be in the dark wondering how come no one gives us any answers. Any ways what I want to know is how long have people waited to clear background checks at USCIS?

Hi Dipstcik,

We are waiting as well, and the hold up is the background check. We know this from responses to senator's and congressman's inquiries. Our case is still stuck at the Missouri Service Center (which I think is before any of the NVC or Embassy checks). Our NOA1 dates were April 21, 2006 and May 4, 2006 for the I-130 and I-129F, respectively.

I hope that helps.

Dhobee it appears that we are in the same sutiation. Maybe we can keep this thread going and get find all the people that are stuck on check at USCIS so that we can get an idea of how long others have been waiting. Did they ever send you an RFE asking for your husbands birth certificate or for pictures or any thing like that? Did you send in any type of evidence like they now just started asking for on the I-130?

Guys... i really feel for you, this must be so frustrating.....

Is there any reason for them to be doing such intensive checks?? i take it you guys are all clean etc etc??

We dont have a clue. The only thing we can think of is maybe common last names. =0(

Really!? wow, that seems to be some intensive checks for that.. how awful

Don't give up hope just yet. Very often these background checks are completed in less than 30 days and sent on for further processing. Hang in there, you will get your approval soon!
