What to do when PD becomes current

Hello everyone :) ,

My mom LPR is filing for my lil sis under 21 who currently lives in the Philippines (F2A category).

We got the initial process done with USCIS I-130 was already approved with Priority Date of AUG 2014

and papers have already been forwarded to NVC.

I checked the Visa Bulletin and it says by JAN 2016 our priority date will become current.

At this point, what should we suppose to do? does NVC send out notice? or should we start to file Visa application? what papers do we need to file?

Thank you in advance!

Your sister should have gotten her notice to file for an agent by now.

How old is your sister now? Did she age out of the F2a category into the F2b category?

she's 20 now.

We havent got any notice from NVC except the NOA from USCIS a year ago.

Once your sister's PD becomes current, your mom should contact the NVC to inform them your sister's PD is current and ask for the case to be processed.

I checked the visa bulletin for January and it says 01AUG14 under Philippines F2A.

Does that mean our PD will become current by January 2015? and NVC will start the process?

If the PD is before August 1, 2014, then it would be current as of January 1, 2016. The NVC should have started the process by then.

My suggestion is to start calling NVC ASAP. Since your PD was since august 2014, NVC should have already contacted your mother way back and would have start asking for documents on affidavit of support and civil documents. Start calling NVC and get the details of the case ASAP and avoid waiting for your sister to turn 21.
