Case Status when rescheduling Biometrics?

Hi All,

I recently filed, and recieved a Biometrics letter for 23rd December. I'm in the UK for Christmas, so I mailed it back to them to ask for a different date. I hadn't heard anything back from them & nothing has changed on my USCIS Case Status - does anyone know if there should be any sign they got the letter, such as a status change? I'm worried they never got my return request for a new appointment! I don't want them to think I abandoned the case, and I don't know how else to make sure its OK. I feel like calling Customer Service will be anwaste of time...

You should have called before you left to make sure they received your change request. At least the phone call would have been documented in your electronic file. My suggestion.......get on the phone ASAP and talk to someone. Try calling as soon as they open so you have a better chance of getting through.

I called them now but as expected they are worse than useless. My case doesn't show as abandoned but they don't have access to any biometrics appointment info so they dont have any way of seeing if a new appointment has been scheduled (really USCIS??)

I don't really see what I did wrong, I don't think it should be my reponsibility to call before i traveled, I did what they asked by sending the notice right back to them asking for a new appointment. Im just nervous because I'm not at home, so I wont know if a new appointment has been sent out until Jan 3rd. I also don't know how log it usually takes to get a second appointment through when asking for a reschedule...

The only thing I wish I had done is sent the return request recorded mail. I had so much going on that week that I didn't have the time to get to the post office, but it would have given me peace of mind. Oh well!

There are no status changes for rescheduled biometrics. I don't think you did anything wrong but what I think the other poster was saying is that for peace of mind you should have contacted them prior to leaving instead of worrying now in your absence. No one knows when the new biometrics date will be. My advice would have been to try to do a walk-in prior to leaving in lieu of rescheduling. Had you been successful (lots of people are), the biometrics would have been behind you and you'd have no worries.

Can someone collect your mail and let you know? The worst that can happen is you cut your visit short. Otherwise, you just have to wait until you get back and hope you did not miss the new appointment. Good luck!
