Hello All, first post, long time reader and lurker.

I am getting concerned with my MILs F2A visa petition for her minor daughter (13 yr old) and I hope you guys can set me at ease or tell me what I am missing. Here is where we are:

1) We filed the petition I-130 with stated documents on May 28, 2015

2) We recieved notice they had received the petition on June 4, 2015.

3) We recieved notice that the petition was approved on July 29, 2015.

And this is where we sit? I am not sure what is the next step? When we petioned my MIL to come here I had to do the online forms DS-261 & 261. I recall that we didn't get prompted to do that for a few months. We kept checking the CEAC and finally it let us pay the fee. Its aleady been five (5) months now since we got approval.

Our priority date is June 3, 2015.

Questions:

1) Does the priority date need to hit before the next step? Or filling in the Online Forms DS 260-261?

2) What should we be doing at this point?

The current priority date looks to be Aug 1 2014. Are we really a year away before we can do anyhting further? I recall when we did my MIL petition is took many months AFTER the online forms were filled out to get our checklist and for the interview to be scheduled. That would mean this petition's processing time is much longer than all the others we have previsously done.

Can somone help? We just want to make sure we are doing what we need to do timely so we can get her here soonest possible.

hi

parents are immediate relatives, but children of a LPR aren't

the petition takes around 2 years, so the approved i130 will go to the nvc where it will be stored and you will get a welcome letter with a case number

Hi - thank you for responding. So you are saying because the application is the daughter of LPR, it will take longer than when we petitioned my MIL and longer than the K1, AOS, etc for my wife? Any idea how long it takes to get the NVC Welcome Letter from the approval date? Does that Welcome letter spark the next step? Thanks

hi

yes, a spouse or a minor child of a green card holder takes longer than a spouse or parent of a USC,

the family of a LPR goes through a period of waiting and they are subject to the visa bulletin waiting in line for a visa to become available, there is no waiting in line for immediate relatives of a USC

as said the i130 will be stored at the NVC stage, it can take from 30 to 45 days to get the letter with the case number, then you just have to wait and check each month the visa bulletin
