Hello everyone,

I am a new member on this forum and now trying to apply for a K-1 visa for my fiancée. I am also an active Army officer. I am curious if my military status can make K-1 processed faster?

Thank you very much in advance.

Your military status only matters if you have orders which you will have to submit to USCIS. Otherwise, the K-1 processing will not be accelerated.

Ma'am,

Roger, thank you very much. I met my fiancée when I was stationed in South Korea, so I will submit my old orders to USCIS.

Thank you so much again.

If you are already at your new duty station then there won't be an expedite. My fiancé is Navy and our wait times were the same as everybody else's.

What she meant was your military status would only make a difference if you were to be deployed or is about to be deployed and you have orders to show for. Otherwise, your petition will be processed the same manner as everyone else.

Thank you very much. I don't have orders for upcoming deployment or permanent change of duty station, so my military status won't make any difference in processing time.

When my husband got orders to leave Belgium much earlier than it was supposed to, I applied for gc and we called uscis and explained situation. They told us to send letter and explain it and request expedite, that he is in states and I had to move back to my parents, because he cleared his duty station in Belgium, so its hard financially since I couldnt get job because I didn't know how long it will take. Our I130 was approved in month and half and it moved to embassy right away. so you can definitely try to explain and request expedite.

Your husband had orders for Belgium.

The OP already confirmed they don't have orders for upcoming deployment or permanent change of duty station so there is no reason to expedite.

I am sorry, I guess I used wrong wording. He was leaving Belgium, we lived in Belgium together. He got orders to move to back to US. Uscis said that expedite is for overseas orders or deployment, but ours got expedited even tho it was orders to US. When we applied for the expedite I am not sure that we had his orders or not, I think we just explained situation.

And he met his fiance while he was stationed in Korea but got orders to US and had to leave her. Similar situation to us. The only difference is, we were married.

Ma'am,

Thank you for the info. However, since your husband was moving back to the States, which was regarded as 'Permanent Change of Duty Stations (PCS)' in military, he had PCS orders, that's the reason why he was able to request for expedite process. The situation doesn't apply to my case.
