N600 submit naturalized parent's birth certificate AND naturalization certificate?

I want to apply for the N600 for my 9 year old son (after I get citizenship, interview in 1 month). Looking at the instructions, it asks for both his birth certificate and MY birth certificate which seems odd since I will be sending my naturalizaion certificate.

Does anyone know if I have to send both my own birth certificate AND naturalization certificate? My birth cert has nothing to do with him being a US Citizen since I was not a US Citizen by birth - I naturalized.

I also read that if you have previously submitted a document as part of your immigration package you do not have to resubmit for the n600 - you just reference that you have already submitted it and in what application package. Anyone know if that is true or done this?

The reason I want to avoid sending my birth certificate is because it is complicated.... 1) It is in a different language so I also have to submit the translation. 2) I changed my name previously so then I have to include the transaltion, then the name change certificate, THEN the marriage certificate which makes for a lot of certificates and explaining. On another note, if I have to submit all of the above certificates, what is the best way to do so so they understand and it all makes sense to them?

(Day 95) 04/30/16: Received letter from field office to say no oath necessary and that they would mail the certificate.
(Day 106) 05/11/16: Cert of Citizenship received by registered mail (they never sent tracking. case status was never updated either)

Yes for the n-600 you must submit your birth certificate as well. That was one reason to why I skipped doing that for my 10 year old son. I just applied for a US passport. The n-600 isn't really necessary.

anyone know why my own birth cert would be relevant when I would already be submitting my certificate of naturalization? thanks

I believe your birth certificate might be required as part of you proving who YOU are. That's the only thing I can think of. For example, in the future, if your child is trying to get a duplicate of their own document and they are asked where their mother was born etc they can use that to verify it is accurate. This is just me guessing though.

Also, I agree with other posters, you don't need that form, if you just apply for the passport that is all you need for your child. I haven't decided what I'm doing. Somehow I like the idea having both but am not certain.

HI lilsweetie

I am in the same boat - just got naturalized and like to submit N600 for my kid (whose age is below 14). I was told that this naturalization certificate might be mandatory during college admissions.

For applying N600, I did not see any requirement to send parent's Naturalization certificate.

Wondering if you had already applied for N600 and like to know if you have sent copies of your naturalization certificate

found this old post as i am in the same boat now.

i was advised from other websites that, all supporting documents should NOT be original as USCIS will not return your originals (not like passport application ) unless they specify or sent you writtien notice for original evidence.
