Hello everyone!

I need some help here.

I met my husband at work while he was in an international assignment in Brazil (we both work for the same company). He is now being sent back to US and we are about to start the CR-1 process.

At the same time there is an opportunity for me to get a L-1 VISA sponsored by the company and start working in US beginning next year.

My question is: can I file for both L-1 and CR-1 at the same time so I will travel initially to US with my L-1 and then come back to interview when the time is due for the CR-1 or there is a chance that my L-1 VISA be denied or the CR-1 get delayed because I'll be filing them almost simultaneously?

Just as a background I have a past H-1 VISA and have already lived in US for 18 months, 15 years ago. Also been to US for business and for leisure several times and never overstayed.

Appreciate any help, comments or suggestions.

Hello Zinaburst,

Hello Everyone,

I am in a similar situation ...

Thinking about starting the IR1 visa process while my job could offer me the option to go through the L-1 path.

Why not waiting the L1? Company project has been delayed several times ... During the last 1,5y.

Any advise will be well appreciated.

Go for the L and adjust through your Spouse once in the US.

Much the better way.

If you are not certain of the L then certainly file CR1, go with what comes first.

Hello,

Many thanks for the feedback.

After 1,5y of wait, we realized that a IR1 could be completed by that time :-( ...

Beside that, I guess traveling to US for my employer, back and forward (couple of days), should not be an issue if I can prove that I do not have any intention to illegally stay in the country.

Am I right?

Thx

The odd trip should not be an issue, a company move would have major financial benefits.

Indeed ... we will decide in few weeks.

By that time, I will try to collect all the needed documents just in case.

Thx !

Hi,

No intention to hijack the thread ... just had a similar situation and thought it would be valuable, also for the owner.

I am a newbie here ... not a hijacker.

thx.
