Processing time IR-5

Folks,

I see that for some people the petitions get approved after a month or 2 of being received (I have seen this for people who have not even requested expedite processing) and for majority, it takes the standard 5 to 6 months (no RFE).

What is soooo special about their petitions ?

I think processing times should be the same for every properly filed petition. But this is not a perfect world.

It all depends on what service center your petitions is sent to (based on your address). If it's sent to a center that is processing applications quickly (like California Service Center) then you're in luck. Otherwise most of the service centers takes about 5-6 months to adjudicate since they're quite backlogged.

My husband`s parents just got approved today and their case was sent to NVC. It took 6 months exactly, including RFE that they received. :)

Congratulations!!! Although 6 months to approve a petition is just ridiculous.

What was the service center ?

I dont think so brother. Nebraska is also approving some under 1 to 2 months. I just dont understand why some take a month and most take 6 months.

Potomac is the newest center and the fastest!!!

Additionally, I confirmed from embassy that parents should take your (petitioner) original birth certificate with them to the interview!!!

Thank you. Mine is at Nebraska, the slowest one. :)
