Quick question, what happens if you apply for AOS after the k1 has expired?

A friend mentioned they were fined heavily to prevent her extradition. Is this true?

Extradition????? You are not using this term correctly.

You have given very little information. If you want good help, then provide good information.

If the K-1 visa holder married the K-1 petitioner, then nothing bad happens when filing for AOS. The K-1 visa overstay then is authorized to stay in the US based on the AOS applied for.

There is no fine. Your friend is mistaken. You and him are not understanding terms and what is going on. Extradition have to do with criminals, not immigrants - the home country is requesting she be returned to her home country. There is no US fine that would prevent that. In no way were they "fined heavliy to prevent her extradition." Absolutely, not true.

K-1 expired at POE. Legal status after entry is given by the I-94, that is your 90 days.

There is no fine for filing AOS after the I-94 has expired. Legal status in the USA expires after 90 days, but all is forgiven once you file AOS.

Extradition? Huh? Don't think your friend has a clue.
