Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any idea of how long it takes to be assigned an interview date once the embassy receives the medical results and readiness form? The embassy got my medical results today and already have my form, and I need to know my interview data asap so I can plan some travel around it. I've been able to speak to NVC and I know they will give me the date once assigned and that it's likely to be in about a month, but it would be good to have some idea of when I can get that info.

Sorry if this information is already out there, I only see a post about the medical to interview but not one about when the interview date is assigned.

Thanks everyone :)

Everybody is different so even if somebody tells you theirs, it does not mean yours would be the same. I would say allow 3 weeks to hear and interview will not necessarily be four more weeks off for a K1. Yes, the NVC allows 4 weeks when they assign CR1 interviews to give them time to get to the medical prior to interview. Different process.

You can't really plan travel with any assurance so take a gamble if you must. Also see the thread of how long after interview to get your passport/visa back.

OK. Thanks. I guess I assumed that they would assign the date pretty soon, considering that interview dates are very approximately 1 month after the medical and you are given 1 month notice for the interview date. I know everyone is different and things are changing but I can't help but try to get a little grasp on things!

Interview dates are not often one month after the medical. Quickly counting this list http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/549078-medical-to-interview-date-how-long-2015-data/?p=7883281it looks like only 14% fall within one month of the medical date. The range shown is 24 days to 63 days.

Interviews are also not one month after notification. Many are 3 weeks. Some have gotten a week's notice.

How did you know they received your results.. ?! Do they tell you? I was just going to wait for interview date and forget about results.

If you go on CEAC (https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?) then you can find out the status of your case and the last update. Mine was updated yesterday (also on 21st) so I wondered whether this was me being assigned an interview. If you ring NVC they are able to tell you whether your interview has been scheduled. In this case the person I spoke to said that it was the embassy putting in the validity of my medical, which can only mean that they received it.

My appointment latter was dated 4 days after they've got my medical results (interview itself was after a bit less than 5 weeks). I won't recommend to buy tickets at least till you was told you're approved, because there is no rule how long it will take.. When I've got approved we booked tickets for date 3 weeks after that, still I've got my visa in hands (I took it myself from location) 4 days before flight. Or if money is not a problem, just get the tickets with option to change date.

Thanks. I'm not intending to buy flights until I have the visa in-hand or I am pretty certain when I might get it, more trying to combine trips to London with visiting family etc and also hoping to have my fiancé come over for a few weeks, a few things pending. I bet getting your visa only 4 days before was a bit stressful!
