***** moving from Student Visa to Tourist visa forum *****

For people from some countries, it is very difficult to get a visitor visa. Ghana is one of those countries.

What exactly does the form he got say?

What ties to home did your friend provide to show he would return after the visit?

Is it possible that he filled out a form wrong, or maybe used a "visa service" that lied on a form for him, for example saying he was married when he is not?

It is utter nonsense to buy off on the OP's assertion that 'no questions were asked'...a very common fairy tale offered up by the denied visa applicant. Sorry, it just does not happen....period.....COs don't just pass out denial forms like candy without asking some questions. Your 'friend' is full of baloney.

Oh sure, we will hear next about how this 'friend' would never lie and is the most honest human being on the planet, easily replacing Abe Lincoln....nope...the story about not being asked a single question is totally false.

And I am not sure why the OP now 'has to travel' to Ghana...for what purpose? To ask for reconsideration on his/her 'friend's' behalf?'...good luck with that. To badger or attempt to intimidate a CO into changing their decision? Sure. That won't happen. To do what, then?

not that long ago she was trying to do a cruise with her boyfriend from the same area. she said friend so maybe she has a friend there and a boyfriend she trying to get visas for ? so im thinking when she said she guesses she has to go there she means not to convince the CO but for a visit.

a long way to go just to visit a 'friend'....

To some, but not to others. Prior to meeting my fiancee, I had already made travel arrangements to go to China to visit friends, but upon meeting my fiancee, I just altered my arrangements and went to northern China instead of southern China.

Heck, I've even known people who have gone to Japan, just because they felt like it, not even because they had a friend there.

But in the case of the OP, the "friend" is actually her boyfriend, you just gotta post dig to find it.

which is why 'friend' was written between little quotes....I had figured that out a long time ago....'friend' has been and continues to be the euphuism for Significant Other.

My guess is that the 'friend' 'forgot' to mention that he has an American GF/fiancé in the US, or made some other mistakes when answering those questions that weren't asked....then, when he had to call her up and tell her the bad news, he, like countless others, made up the story about 'gee, I stepped up to the window and was refused before I could say anything' rather than admit that he likely tried some evasive maneuver that failed.

It's well known that a "friend" who did not get a US visitor visa will shortly become a boyfriend/fiance or girlfriend/fiancee.

Shocking how many people thinks that the CO are idiots and using "friend" will get them to the US when the person is actually involved in a romantic relationship with the US "friend."

You do not pay for a visa, you pay to apply for one, which you may or may not get.
