New job 2 weeks before Interview

Hello everyone!

I've received a job offer and I'm sure I'm going to take it. My first day would be probably March 19th. My fiance, Dave, has his interview March 28th for the K1 visa. Obviously we aren't into lying, so what about if they ask what I do? Should he tell them I just got a new job? If so, will I need to gather more info about my job? I would think they would want to know that I make the same or more. Should he just say I am still at the same place that I have been? I know this is something pretty simple, but with as long as this process is, I don't want ANYTHING to go wrong.

That should be easy enough if you get a letter from the new job stating how much you will be making. Is it possible to hold off starting the new job until after your interview?

But I'm also pragmatic. You are talking a 10 day difference.

I'm kinka thinking that if the job is a better one and I was fairly confident I'd be staying on there, I might not mention it.

I’ve been seriously looking for a new job and could be in your situation any day now. I would say you don’t have to say anything, because there just isn’t time enough to work a few days at least, get the letter and then send it in via snail mail to arrive before the interview. All documents are already in your fiancé’s hands and the proof they want is that you are earning enough. New job could be put on the AOS application and any other necessary docs in the future.

Actually your advice makes the most sense. I didnt even consider the time it would take to mail the letter. If it aint broke why fix it lol.

Hmm, tricky. I think I would do what ELW said, I mean its a couple of days and with snail mail and such...yeah I would just go with what you got - as long as you weren't taking a major pay cut, I wou;ldn't worry, then just get the new job docs around for AOS.

I had thought about the time it would take to mail the documents. Last time I tried to express mail something over there, it still took like 10 days! I think I basically just wanted to go with the info and documents I have now. It's hard enough starting a new job, but having to harrass them for info in the beginning wasn't something I was wanting to do. Glad ya'll think I should just stick with the documents I have now. Just wanted a lil reassurance on that. Thanks guys!

I had a friend who's petition was approved during a job change . It did not seem to have any problem that this happened . He just got a new letter from his employer and new job was above 125% poverty rate

You can overnight fedex mail maybe 2 days to get overseas . It will cost a bit.to do.
