Hey, just posting to rant.

We're still on AP TWO weeks after our interview... Received 221g for the stupid CENOMAR.. Pretty dumb. Every day we hope there's news and every day get more and more exhausted from this process...

We thought the rough part was over when we left the NVC... But no. Damn government.

Sorry to hear that. We too had the 221g thing and it was horrible.

Hopefully once you give them what they need they will follow up in a reasonable time. Unfortunately can tend to go pretty slow with the review. Seems to be 2-3 weeks after they receive the document.

How did you miss that requirement. It's in the Embassy Letter. As I see it, it was never the Government's damn fault.

It definitely wasn't in my letter, so I'd appreciate it if you would stop assuming things.

Also, if it's a required document, make it required for EVERYONE. I've had two friends of mine go through the same process right before me and both of them said they were not asked for it nor did they bring it with.

It is contained in the Embassy Letter http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/K1-K2%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf which comes from the Embassy website and is also a part of the packet 3, which for the Philippines, usually never arrives because of the delivery inconsistency of the PhilPost.

The EL states: CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE RECORD (CENOMAR). You must also submit a CENOMAR issued by the NSO and printed on NSO security paper if you have never contracted a marriage or as deemed necessary by a consular officer. You may call the NSO Information Center at (632) 737-1111 to inquire about obtaining a CENOMAR or visit their website at http://www.census.gov.ph.

The CENOMAR must not be older than 6 months at the time of the interview.

The entire interview process is outlined on USEM's website including the EL.

I can't reply on why your two friends did not get asked for the document. Their case could be different which I couldn't address because I do not know there particular visa they are pursuing or their individual circumstance. In my earlier reply I made no assumptive statements. I asked a question, I pointed out where the information can be found (fact) and I offered and opinion neither of which were assumptive.

I can understand the need to vent. But also can understand Greenbaum because he and Hank along with others here in VJ have make it very clear that the CENOMAR is a requirement and not having it CAN get you AP.

May your AP be cleared quickly and the rest of your journey be smooth sailing. Ingat.

Getting a 221g always slows things down by weeks. After the embassy receives your response to the 221g it can be another 2-4 weeks. Many completing the immigrant visa get caught missing the CENOMAR/CEMAR, the letter from NVC does not list it but the embassy does.

CENOMAR/CEMAR is required.
