HELP! SECURITY CHECKS FOR I-130 HAS TAKEN TOO LONG

My wife inquired about our case, because it's been too long waiting for our approval! so she received this;

According to our records, Receipt number: (***********) is assigned to your petition. Furthermore, we have placed your case on a processing hold, because the required security checks remain pending. Until we receive the results of these security checks, we cannot move forward on your case. We require the results of security checks before we make a decision on any pending case.

We cannot predict when we will receive the results of these security checks. Please be assured that we will make every effort to make a decision in your case as soon as the security checks are complete.

What does this mean? How long does it take to be complete and what are we supposed to do now?

There is nothing anyone here can tell you outside the notice you received. She maybe technically on administrative processing which requires in depth security checks.

when I was reading what people say about this. I was shocked that some people have waited for a long really long time.

I mean our application haven't been approved yet. so is it a common thing that happens to everyone! our case status online hasn't changed yet it's still "Case Was Received".
