My sage advice is enjoy your time off while you can't work......I wish I had because frankly its the only period in my adult life where I was off and totally unable to work (other then mat leave 20+ yrs ago). I moved back in Nov 2007, EAD in Feb and started work on March 31 2008.

I worried the entire time, went squirrelly and was in a bad mood over waiting for the EAD, which was a process I could't control. Get to know your new area, explore, volunteer, pretend to be Betty Crocker/ CInderfella at home(sorry...can't discern which member of the equation you are).

02/22/11 - Filed

02/28/11 - NOA

03/28/11 - FP

06/17/11 - status change - scheduled for interview

06/20?/11 - received physical interview letter

07/13/11 - Interview in Fairfax,VA - easiest 10 minutes of my life

07/19/11 - Oath ceremony in Fairfax, VA

12/1/09 - received at VSC

12/2/09 - NOA's for self and daughter

01/12/10 - Biometrics completed

03/15/10 - 10 Green Card Received - self and daughter

I actually didn't go back to work for 3 months either (a month of settling in and then 2 months of my kiddo visiting) and had to keep busy. But I did learn the area a little and got to eat lunch with my hubs. My first job interview was a call 1 hour after my resume was submitted.
