Fiance has K1 interview in Beirut, Lebanon- Denied

Hello,

My fiance had his interview today (12/21/15), but was denied because the consular was not convinced there was a relationship. The consular said there was lack of evidence of a relationship. My fiance brought pictures with him from our engagement and time spent together. The consular asked him during the interview why we dont have pictures posted on facebook of us together. Due to our culture we dont put up pictures on social media until actual marriage.

The consular told him that she would send all our documentation back to the United States and there the final decision would be made. Has this happened to anyone before? Does this mean the visa was denied? What can we do? Please help us. It is very important we find a solution to this.

So sorry to hear. Yes you have been refused (Denied). You Petition gets sent back and it will expire and you will get letter to either refile or you could just get married and file as a spouse.

When you filed your I-129F petition what did you have in your petition package?

Were those pics in your package or just brought to interview?

How long have you two known each other?

How many times you visit and for how long?

You could contact your congressman and/or Senator to maybe get some help or guidance. But when they are sending back unless you contact the embassy and request a second interview now before they send you back and you tell them you will fly in to be interviewed and bring whatever evidence they are requiring.

No guarantee. Actually small chance but if you don;t ask you'll never know. I would contact embassy immediately.

Do they check social media? My husband has no pics of him and I have none of us. Just preference for us, I have some stalkers...lol Sorry to hear this.

I think u would have to appeal or refile maybe if u can get married there and do cr1 visa

Did you clearly show all this time together in your initial petition package?

Were their pics of you and him with family with friends. Posting on Facebook doesn't make you get denied but lack of evidence does if you didn't demonstrate it.

I am trying to wrap my head around the whole no evidence of relationship...... unless there is no evidence..? You said you have spent two summers together so where are the plane tickets, hotel receipts, pictures of you both together doing things..?

With the CA shooting they may be a lot more careful of Muslim countries whether that is official policy or not but lack of proof of ongoing relationship is the single largest problem for RFE according to the spreadsheets regardless of what country you come from so that probably isn't a real factor anyways..

Bluntly it doesn't matter what your culture is as you are leaving it or the US culture and you should play the game the way the referee calls it and that means "typical American" as they are referee and could care less about Lebanese, Filipino or Nepali culture (which also is not demonstrative typically..) Provide proof! i.e. Facebook, pictures, etc. Surely you call and have what's app or other records? Even without the fb pictures I have almost 30,000 lines of chat for just the last three months.. You could screen capture and print out that for proof along with phone records, email, etc..

If you were immigrating to Lebanon then you could maybe get by with less proof but here this is the way it is played.

Usually if there is not enough proof they ask for more according to the forums unless there really is nothing..

The K1 will be purposely expire and you will have to re file a K1 or marry and file a CR1.

You can try to immediately contact your state senator (google him) and after sending your privacy release by fax to him he can request a

second interview on your behalf which they however don't have to grant you. If they do fly there and submit all the evidence you have of time

spend together and communication from day one to current.

If you have to re file make sure you front load the petition.

My FB soap box advice :
People say they do not put each other on FB to share with their friends because of stalkers or whatever.
If anyone has stalkers then for Pete's sake change your settings for your privacy. Simple fix.

Our profile photo has always been one of both of us together since we have committed to each other on his and mine so it works great for us

and I am proud of my now hubby and glad to share my happiness with my circle of friends I choose to share with for the past 6 years.
I don't have insight to your culture of sharing an engagement but do not see why that has to be kept a secret.

If you keep your profile private as you should then a CO can't view your postings (unless they go through a back door) but had she seen the open
profile pic of you together it could have turned out differently who knows. They do not like keeping friends and family in the dark of a relationship.

If you have a public non private newsfeed where the whole world including the CO can see your postings and there isn't anything hinting to a

relationship or occasional post or comment then they sometimes go by that and refuse, it's not the first time this has been posted about FB.

Secretly kept relationships sometimes smell of fraud and they don't care why you keep them secret, it is what it is, good luck explaining that.

Handle social media with common sense and having a small acknowledgement and photos with a fiance with the right privacy settings should not be a problem

for anyone in my opinion. Whoever has issues with it you can delete. Your wall- your life- your choices.

I would not set myself up for the sake of secrecy to be refused knowing they check social media. Just my 2 cents.

Do they always check ? No, many CO's do not care.....some obviously do.

I would approach the request for another interview with the " we wanted to keep our relationship on social media private because of.......(hope you have a believable reason) and am offering this additional evidence ( everything but the kitchen sink) as evidence of our bona fide relationship and engagement

and plans to marry when approved."

Must admit there is a limit as to what you share publicly, obviously my birthdate is not right on VJ and Denver covers a big area.

I have 3 Facebook accounts, one of which is personal and has a handful of friends and is not public.

Not sure why you would have a Facebook account and hide such info?

My facebook is for work... all my real friends and family have all our pics texted to them ;-)

And immigration can have our over 3000 pics from 3 years, no worries. Some don't live to display everything on social media for strangers and unfortunately most of my people are this.
