The process to move to the UK is relatively quick if expensive. A friend did in less than a month and he said he was not rushing.

A lockbox is a place the receives mail. Do some reading and you will discover a wealth of information.

Since you live in the US, to DCF, you would first move abroad and establish residency in another country. The process allows USCs living abroad with their spouses a speedier way to return to the States.

You say that you want to be together ASAP. Living abroad with your spouse is a way to be together during the family visa process, which has no ASAPs. Whether that move makes the most sense for the two of you depends on your situation. Other posters have mentioned visiting during the CR-1 process or pursuing a K-1 (fiance) visa to marry in the US instead of Italy. Again, what makes the most sense for you depends on your situation. The guides will be helpful, as they lay out what is involved in each path.

(Note: Even were you to move to Italy right after you marry, it is possible that filing the I-130 with the lockbox could be faster than obtaining Italian residency and then waiting to qualify for DCF, especially if "principal residence" means six months. You could do the math once you have more info.)
