I was searching for the answer to this question here and there were no recent responses, so I used the "Ask a Lawyer" for an up to date answer.

Here is my question: "We are in the final stage of our immigration process and my fiance received his passport back today, July 23, 2018. He had his interview and was approved on June 20th. On the visa stamp there is an issue and expiration date: Issue Date 17JUL2018 Expiration Date 14AUG2018 Does this mean that he has to book his flight before the 14th of August? We thought he had 6 months to enter the country once his passport was returned with the Visa stamp."

Here is the lawyer's answer: "In terms of the expiration date of the visa, the current administration has done a lot of things that are out of the normal course of business or out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, the way the Department of State issues visas and executes this administrations policies and procedures, have changed a bit. So yes, this visa is valid up to August 14, 2018. That is the last date that he can enter the US using this visa stamp."

I hope this helps someone. Visajourney has been very helpful to us along the way...

Sorry to bump this up, but to anyone who might have more information on this: I'm scheduled to attend my visa interview on 31st October in London. As above, are there any other stories that the validity of the K1 visa is now only for one month, instead of six months?

I think everything I've seen on official websites is that the visa is valid for a maximum of six months. However, obviously if the validity period has changed from six months to one month, that is going to throw my plans for leaving my job, leaving my flat etc, into total disarray.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Validity is typically 6 months from the date of the medical examination.

No news to the contrary has been broadcast or unearthed.
