IR-1/CR-1 visa - how long is it good for?

Hello,

How long is the visa good for after it is approved? I only ask because I currently have a roommate and while having my husband visit works, living here full-time would be rather tight in space for all of us for several months. My lease is up until mid-October, and I don't foresee the process being complete early, I am noticing some people are getting their visas within 6 months. I am going to file next month the I-130, but just in case it does happen and my husband's visa is approved within perhaps a 6 month time frame, how long can we delay until he moves over?

I can't find anything specific on this so any insight or directions where to look I would appreciate it.

the process takes around a year when going for consular processing, he will have an expiration date of the visa stamped in his passport

usually it is good for 6 months since his medical that he will have to do, so you have plenty of time

the i130 alone takes 3 months or more, average 5 months, but in some cases it has been up to 9 months
