Harrisburg terror suspect held at county prison; Neighbors say he was rarely seen Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz, 19, faces charges

WASHINGTON —A Harrisburg man was arrested Thursday on charges of conspiring and attempting to provide material support to ISIS. He is now being held at the Dauphin County Prison.

19-year-old Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz faces two criminal complaint charges unsealed by the U.S. District court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Aziz's residence, where he lives with his parents, was searched by authorities on November 27th. They found a backpack in his closet, which contained high-capacity weapons magazines, ammunition, a knife, and other survival items, according to John P. Carlin, the Assistant Attorney General for National Security.

In a criminal complaint, filed on Thursday by a Special Agent assigned to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, the agent writes, "Your affiant believes that Aziz may be preparing to conduct or assist others in conducting an attack in the United States based on the discovery of a backpack."

Aziz used multiple Twitter accounts to give out information on 100 reported members of the U.S. military. He called out for violence against them, U.S. citizens and President Barack Obama, according to the criminal complaint.

The criminal complaint also states that Aziz used Twitter to pledge allegiance to ISIL and its leader Baghadi. Aziz also tweeted messages with the hashtag #KillAllKufar, according to the documents. The term kufar translates to infidels, or non-believers.

Authorities say Aziz also assisted people seeking to travel to and fight for ISIS on Twitter.

The case is being investigated by the Philadelphia FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.

“The charges in this case focus on Aziz’s efforts to assist persons seeking to travel to and fight for the Islamic State,” said U.S. Attorney Smith. “These charges are a testament to the perseverance and dedication of those who stand watch over our nation and a clear message that those who support terrorism – will face justice.”

“The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) will move with speed to detect and disrupt those who are involved in facilitation or operational planning in support of a terrorist organization. There is no difference between the two, and we will aggressively pursue every threat in order to protect our communities,” said Special Agent in Charge Sweeney. “In this instance, Aziz operated quietly on behalf of the Islamic State and facilitated others looking to do the same.” Sweeney extended his appreciation to the Harrisburg-based members of FBI Philadelphia’s JTTF, and he encouraged anyone with concerns about suspicious behavior to contact appropriate authorities.

According to the complaint, Aziz has used at least 57 different Twitter accounts to advocate violence against the United States and its citizens, to disseminate ISIL propaganda and espouse pro-ISIL views. Aziz is alleged to have posted a hyperlink containing the names, addresses and other identifying information of 100 reported members of the U.S. military and calls for violence against them. Additionally, on at least three occasions, Aziz also allegedly used his Twitter accounts and other electronic communication services to assist persons seeking to travel to and fight for ISIL. In one instance, Aziz allegedly acted as an intermediary between a person in Turkey and several well-known members of ISIL. According to the allegations in the complaint, Aziz passed location information, including maps and a telephone number, between these ISIL supporters.

A prior search of a backpack located in Aziz’s closet identified five loaded M4-style high-capacity magazines, a modified kitchen knife, a thumb drive, medication and a balaclava.

A criminal complaint is only a charge is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

If convicted, the defendants’ sentence will be determined by the court after reviewing factors unique to this case, including the defendant’s prior criminal record, if any, and the defendant’s role in the offense and the characteristics of the violation. In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases it will be less than the maximum.

The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Philadelphia JTTF. This case is being prosecuted by Trial Attorneys Robert Sander and Adam L. Small of the National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Daryl Bloom of the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Irony: The only person in the whole United States shopping for a slave is a black dude

Nope, there are plenty of people in the U.S. that are looking for slaves, he isn't the only one. Human sex trafficking (sex slavery) is big right here in the good ole U.S. of A.

Trafficking of women and children for the sex industry and for labor is prevalent in all regions of the United States. An estimated 45,000 to 50,000 women and children1 are trafficked annually to the United States,2 primarily by small crime rings and loosely connected criminal networks. The trafficked victims have traditionally come from Southeast Asia and Latin America; however, increasingly they are coming from the New Independent States and Central and Eastern Europe. Trafficking to the US is likely to increase given weak economies and few job opportunities in the countries of origin; low risk of prosecution and enormous profit potential for the traffickers; and improved international transportation infrastructures. Though it may be impossible to eradicate trafficking to the US, it is possible to diminish the problem significantly by targeted prevention and microcredit strategies in the source countries; strengthening the penalties and laws against traffickers in this country; and enhancing assistance and protections for the victims. 1 International trafficking in persons to the United States is a significant problem and crime affecting.

https://www.cia.gov/library/center-for-the-study-of-intelligence/csi-publications/books-and-monographs/trafficking.pdf

The scale of these crimes is staggering. “As of 2005 this global phenomenon reaped an annual worldwide profit of $44.3 billion and affected more than 12.3 million persons,” the authors write. About half are children. Other forms of trafficking are rampant — human organs, most prominently — but forced labor accounts for two-thirds of the cases. Victims are often recruited with promises of jobs abroad or within their own countries, but once in the grip of the traffickers they are essentially slaves. Various forms of subjugation are involved, such as debt bondage resulting from exorbitant fees for transportation, food and housing, but it all amounts to a system of violently enforced servitude from which escape is only a remote possibility.

While the common perception of trafficking tends to focus on sexual exploitation in places such as Thailand and Dubai, the United States is among the top 10 destinations. Thousands of victims are brought into America each year from all over the world. They are used mainly for household labor, agriculture, food and care services, and in the garment industry. Those in industry are housed in substandard quarters and do not get paid, or owe so much because of the traffickers’ “fees” that payment is irrelevant.

When you factor in child labor and sex trafficking(as Janelle pointed out), it's no surprise that it's still very alive in well here in the US. Looks like your statement is a tad bit false.

ISIS Selling Yazidi Women and Children in Turkey

by Uzay Bulut

This month, the German television station, ARD (Consortium of Public Broadcasters in Germany), produced footage documenting the slave trade being conducted by the Islamic State (ISIS) through a liaison office in the province of Gaziantep (also known as Antep) in Turkey, near the border with Syria.

In August 2014, Islamic State jihadists attacked Sinjar, home to over 400,000 Yazidis. The United Nations confirmed that 5,000 men were executed, and as many as 7,000 women and girls made sex slaves.

While some have escaped or been ransomed back, thousands of Yazidis remain missing.

Yazidis have been exposed to campaigns of forced Islamization and assimilation, according to the Turkish sociologist Ismail Besikci, a prominent expert on Kurdistan:

"During the 1912-13 Pontic Greek deportations and the 1915 Armenian genocide, Yazidis were also driven out from their lands. Throughout the history of republican Turkey, all methods have been tried to Islamize the Yazidis. Before 1915, for instance, Suruc was an entirely Yazidi town. So was the town of Viransehir. Today, there is not a single Yazidi left in Suruc. Furthermore, the Islamized Yazidis can be seen exhibit insulting behavior towards those who remain Yazidis."

Because they are Kurds, the state has not recognized their Kurdishness; and because they are Yazidis, the state has not recognized their religion. The section of 'religion' in Yazidis' identity cards has been left empty; or the religion of some has been registered as 'x' or '-' .

Any idea how much?

Any idea how much?

Girls from Ethiopia and Nepal go for about 300 SAR/mo (about 85 bucks) over here on a two-yr contract and the sponsor owner holds their passport. Just about every family hires owns one or two.

Local citizens only....

Horrific stories about their treatment. Several countries have banned their citizens (women) from working here. Indonesia is one.

http://edition.cnn.com/2015/10/08/middleeast/isis-rape-theology-soldiers-rape-women-to-make-them-muslim/index.html?eref=edition

Sitting on a shabby green sofa somewhere in the ISIS-controlled city of Mosul, Iraq, the militants laugh and joke as one of them films their excited chatter.

"Today is the female sex slave market day, which has been ordained," explains a skinny, black-clad Jihadi, gesturing at the camera.

"With Allah's permission, each will get a share," promises another of the fighters.

"Where is my Yazidi girl?" asks the first, a wide grin splitting his straggly-bearded face.

It's all OK though because it happens in the US too. One very insignificant difference, tiny really, not even worth mentioning, is that when it happens in the US it gets prosecuted, but when it happens in these utopias it is not considered wrong. But since it happens in the US too I guess that doesn't matter.

Seems very reasonable.
