Plastic green card not received

Dear all,

I have always read your professional feedback when people ask about different things. it's my turn to ask now as I'm really frustrated. I have arrived in the US 45 days ago on an immigrant visa and I have been waiting for my plastic green card to arrive by mail since then. I did pay the $165 before I arrived and the most important thing that's making me stressed is that my case on the USCIS still says (Case was sent to the department of state). I've read that I should be receiving a welcome letter but I haven't received one until now. Can you please advise what should I do now? I know that the I-155 stamp in my passport is a proof of permanent residency for one year but I need to know what's going on with my plastic green card.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Regards,

Khalid

Ahlan Adil and thanks for your response,

I'm a bit worried that something went wrong. I have a social security card and all is well. it's just the plastic card that's taking forever. How do I make an infopass appointment?

Thanks,

The plastic card can take up to 3 months... you should be able to make an Infopass online.

I received my plastic Green Card after 8 months of entering the US, every time I called USCIS to make an info pass they said no need to just wait 30 days and if you didn't receive it call it again, and when I do they said to wait another 30 days, eventually after 8 months it came by mail!

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

Khalid, the plastic green card can take up to 6 months to arrive from your POE or the payment of the ELIS fee (whichever is later). There's no way to track it on the USCIS ELIS website using your IOE number unfortunately. Luckily, mine came within a month of POE but I've seen others come in 4-6 months.

Hi, just wanna ask when did you guys receive the IOE number? is that the one used to track your green card status? I'm just worried because I just paid the $165 immigrant fee but I only received a "pay.gov confirmation email", with a tracking Id on it.. is that normal? I did not receive a receipt number.. any input would really help.. thanks

Hi,

I forget exactly when we received the IOE number - it was immediately upon payment of the $165 fee. It wasn't specifically noted anywhere to save this number and I think if you don't print that page, there's no chance to retrieve the number. In any case, I was unable to ever track it online using the USCIS ELIS website so it's not very useful.

I just received an email from pay.gov for confirmation of payment and it contains a "pay.gov tracking id and an agency tracking id" but i dont know about IOE, and what should I be receiving other than the paygov confirmation? I just wanna make sure that it was paid and one more thing, will I be able confirm to uscis if they receive the payment for the immigrant fee? Also, when you arrived in the US, how long did they send you the social security number? Edited by ken1215

Based on the emails you received, it looks like it has been paid. You'll know for sure I suppose once the money is taken out of your account. I wouldn't bother confirming with the USCIS if they received payment - it seems like a waste of time. I got my SSN 10 days after my POE. I had ticked off the box in the DS-260 to have them send it to me. I received my plastic green card 1 month after POE, though I had paid the ELIS fee a week before POE.
