Car/Insurance while AoS pending?

Hey, I hope I am right here.

Unfortunately I haven't found this topic somewhere else, if so just send me the link and I'll be fine.

My question is now: My I-485/I-130 is still pending and I want/need a car for work. Is it possible to get car+car insurance without any problems?

To my story: I got approved my EAD/AP 4 weeks ago. I have a SSN, a valid driver license for FL. My AoS Status is telling me that I am ready to be scheduled for an interview therefore I don't expect and RFE's anymore for my I-485.

I have a part time job now since 2 weeks but also have the chance now for a full time job. But I need a car for this job. My husband and I shared a car so far but it is very difficult because our schedule's are so different. Even a co-worker has to pick me up for work. Public transportation is not an option.

Long story short. Can I get a car+ car insurance with my status right now? Anything important I have to know about?

Thank you so much in advance :)

most places want to see work history of a year before granting a loan

Spouse can apply for the loan and add you to insurance

this is the US / buy what you need as long as you can pay for it

Yes. For example, foreign students on F1 visas but and insure cars all the time. I'm not sure what your question is. :)

Thank you so much.

I thought I need a status like "permanent resident" or be on a Visa.

I dont want to join my husband's insurance, it's so expensive because of unexpected circumstances in his past.

So I rather have my own :)

But thanks for your answers, I didnt expect that I get an answer that fast!

Have a great day together

some companies give multicar discounts when you join up on insurance. When you AOS it would be good to have joint insurance to show co-mingling of finances. Something to think about. We bought a car before my husband had his green card, no problem. We jointly bought it though to help my husband build his credit. As an immigrant, you will have trouble getting any loan on your own, your credit score is probably 0 until you build history. Even with a job, a 0 credit score will be hard to get past.
