I am beyond frustrated with the immigration process!!! Let's just start with the fact that my I-130 petition took 10 months for approval. Thankfully, during this time, I was able to visit my husband in Canada for long periods of time so we wouldn't have to be separated.

NVC received all my documents on Sept 8, 2015.

On Oct. 8, I called NVC who told me that my case was completed and in queue to be scheduled for an interview at the Montreal consulate.

Two weeks of waiting.. No interview date.

I called them again, and the rep sent my case for supervisor review on Oct 26. (!!!)

Then I received a checklist? My lawyer sent in the documents that the checklist was asking for.

On November 10th, my lawyer received a message from the NVC attorney that my case is now complete and waiting for an interview to be scheduled.

On Nov 16, my lawyer inquired again via phone and got a hold of a competent supervisor, who told my lawyer that a background check is being conducted?!?? And as soon as that's completed, then it will be scheduled for an interview.

In beginning of Dec, this month, we received ANOTHER checklist asking for the I-864A. (Uh hello??? Why didn't NVC ask for the I-864A back in September or October??)

My lawyer quickly sent that to the supervisor who then said she has all the documents she needs. Now an interview date will be scheduled soon.

I still haven't received a case complete email!! And for some reason, I'm expecting another checklist to come. I don't understand why background checks are being conducted at the NVC stage. I thought that's done at the USCIS stage. Isn't NVC just in charge of collecting fees and documents and preparing it for the consulate?

Is anyone else going through something similar?
