K1 Birth Certificate and Police Certificate Questions

Hello,

I will be going for my K1 interview in February and I want to make sure I have everything in order.

1. Which birth certificate do you I need to bring (and a copy I assume) the small credit card size one or my long form one?

2. The police certificate they are looking for is a Criminal Record Check correct? NOT a Police record check? (I have no criminal record)

3. Did people get their Criminal record check from their local police station or somewhere else?

Long form birth certificate.

I got a police clearance from the Vancouver Police Department, you can use your local police department, just go to their website and look it up. Here it costs $70 and takes a couple of weeks.

As specified here (http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/CA.html), " Applicants may obtain a certificate of no conviction issued by any Canadian police service so long as it notes that Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or the national criminal records repository was searched using the applicant's name and date of birth."

Make sure it shows your middle name(s) too, as I heard some people had another one requested at their interview if it didn't show all their names. My fiancee didn't put her middle names on her original police certificate application, so we had to get another one before the interview

Ninja edit: There is a section on there about birth certificates too. The "long form" or a certified copy of the "record of live birth" is what you will need. Make sure it has the information about the parents on it (names, DOB, birthplaces, etc).
