I emailed the embassy telling them that my petition was sent by the NVC the 25th november and that they received it the 1st december and they answered me saying this:

"We still havent received the Electronic file yet "

Can someones tell me what does this mean?? I thought they only need my petition so they can send me the Packet 3 ect...!!

It means exactly that. They haven't received the file electronically. While you're waiting you can collect documents the beneficiary will need for the interview and complete the DS160.

Don't worry, they have it if it shows received Dec 1. The issue is actually getting it processed into their system. It takes several weeks for them to put the file in the system and get a letter out to pick up the packet from the embassy. Probably about five weeks from the December 1 date. They will say they don't have it because the person responds to the email just looks it up on a computer, not physically trying to lay eyes on it. If it hasn't been entered, they will say they don't have it yet. They will not go look for the paper copy.

at CEAC page (in my case) showed as ready at least 2 days before they received my actual I129 package in the embassy. It took around 10 days after they notified my by email to send my packet 3 to them! So, Don't worry, and see if you can find examples of what kind of documents you will need for the embassy afterwards, and like LionessDeon said, complete the DS160 and collect those documentations that will be required before/for the interview.

Good luck!

Thank you all for replying, the thing is i dont understand why the process is not the same with everyone...if the electronic file is sent by the NVC,why in other cases people get their packet 3 a few days after the embassy received their papers copy and in my case i need to wait more than a month to know when my interview will be...the problem is that i live in Italy and i need to plan for my flight to Tunisia and now and need just to wait!

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
