I-864 Household size question

When I am counting the number of household why does the form make me enter 3 instead of 2 when I'm sponsoring only my newly married wife?

Sponsor USC: me

intended immigrant who came as K1: my wife

Obviously there are only 2. Am I stupid not to be able to understand the instruction what to fill out???

Part 3, 28, I entered 1 for my wife.

Part 5, No. 1, I entered 1 from the part 3, 28.

Item Number 2. This field is auto-populated to “1.” <---- according to the instruction. since the form doesn't auto-populate, I manually entered 1 for myself

Part 5, No. 3, I entered 1 since I'm married.

All adds up to 3, not 2. I don't get it as to why it should be two, as there are only two of us

You enter 0, because your spouse is already counted and it says not to count anyone twice.
