Hello,

I went to the interview yesterday at the US Embassy in Ottawa and as I just checked my application status it said "Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks, or longer. As explained on the day of your interview, if further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved when administrative processing is finished, you will receive notification to collect the passport with the visa from the Loomis branch you selected when you booked your appointment."

Does any of you have any idea whether this is just normal? And about how many days it may take for my passport to be delivered?

Thank you all!

Wow this is the question of the month!! Please read up in the AP forum. There have been multiple posts regarding this. Yes it is normal. No one can tell you how long...could be days, weeks, months, and even years.

Did they keep your passport? If so, the delay could range from a few days to a few months. If they gave the passport back to you then the delay could be much longer. Either way, having your application in AP is a pretty common occurrence. The reasons for AP are extremely varied, and that's the reason for the broad range in delay. And that's why no one will be able to give you a precise answer on how many days it will take for your passport to be delivered.

many people are put into AP after their interview. even if it is just for a day. and then it will do some switching until it reaches 'issued'. others are placed in AP for much, much longer. i wouldn't worry about it too much yet though, your interview just passed and this is normal. give it a few business days next week and you should hopefully see some updates.

there are quite a few of us patiently waiting in AP, you're welcome to join us fellow Canadians as you wait!
