Hi guys

I have paid the immigrant fee as of July 3,2015 and have a receipt number. My husband has been in the States and is working since September 21st. The address that was used for his docs was our old address. During POE he informed the officer of the address change....whoever has said on this site that this is sufficient is dead wrong. My husband has still not received his GC. I filled out the AR11 online - Denied 2x. Called was told my address could be changed over the phone...LIE. I spoke to a Tier 2 rep she told me to fill out the AR11 again with the appropriate steps...did it but have still not gotten a confirmation. I called again...spoke to a BIT*H of a Tier 2 rep and was told that his immigration package at POE has still not been entered in the system! Every time I try to check on the status the receipt number is not recognized, I call give the receipt number...not recognized. I have now been told I have to set up an INFO PASS appt IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET A DATE!!!!! I have no idea what to do, what step to take and am getting totally peeved! I am the USC. Any help would be much appreciated. I feel if I call again and am treated like one more time I will freak out on one of these incompetent people. Is there someone above a Tier 2 I can speak to about possibly getting answers on if my address has actually been changed and WHY THE HELL they have not entered his info in the system yet. We are a gay married couple and are afraid the officer at POE was a bigot and could have done something. Please help

Mark.

The infopass appointment is likely your best option. It should be able to be resolved there face to face.

You can try to go to your account on Uscis Elis, look below where it says CASE SUMMARY. Check the case received date. If the date is the date you paid your Immigration fees or a date close to it- it means that your file has not been transferred from your POE to the USCIS office. If thats the case then even if you call USCIS, the agents will not be able to tell you anything about your case because they don't have access to your file until it is transferred to them. This includes the tier 2 (which is the highest level you can speak to). When USCIS gets your file the Status details (not your Case summary) will read "In process". After that the status details will change to Card produced.

I also wanted to pass on the following from another forum- this is a users post about the same situation- they called and spoke with a tier 2-

(snip) Basically, during the system change the POE-related information was not loaded up properly and they're awaiting for the POE data to be processed properly by the Texas Service Center. I guess this would affect most of you that have entered/paid in Sept.~Nov (including me). She gave me an IOE (receipt) number and also sent me an email with phone numbers and instructions to follow up if I don't get the card in the next 30 days. Well, that will be way past the 90 day period but there's nothing I can do. Just be patient and wait.

Apparently there are many people in the same boat. So you can try to call again or you can go to an infopass and see what assistance they can provide. If the closest USCIS office is fully booked try another location. I know I live near the border of 2 states. The infopass automatically refers us to the location in our state which is several hours away to the west- however there is a location across the border less then an hour north from us. I simply enter that zipcode into the infopass system to get an appt there.

As for the change of address I do not know why you havent got a confirmation. It could be tied to the issue of not having the case transferred yet (?) Logically it would seem if they dont have access to it yet they couldnt change anything but I dunno.

I would also like to acknowledge the bit about discrimination or possible discrimination. Yes it exists but its dangerous to assume that when something goes wrong or is difficult that discrimination is the reason why. Your only other option at this point is to contact a congressperson. There are multiple threads on the topic here on VJ- use the search feature. They have an immigration lesion on staff that can (potentially) help you. They dont have any authority but they can contact USCIS on your behalf and obtain answers/assist you with the process if need be.

USC does not change the address via AR-11. You use I-865 for address change as the sponsor - you have to mail it in, not an online submission form.

For assistance in getting your green card contact your representative - congressman or senator - they all have immigration aides whose sole job is to help constituents with federal agencies (USCIS) - they have direct line to call up the USCIS or email them and get your green card to you.

follow link to update your address. I changed my address after my AOS was approved. Once I changed my address online I received a letter to my new address from USCIS letting me know it was time for ROC.

This does not apply to the OP since they entered on an immigrant visa and are having difficulty obtaining their first plastic green card.
