Quite a number of us want that snail mail :) Move on to the NVC and share with us your journey, you will do great there.

Hi Daylight, really I expected your NOA2 to come before mine. I mean this was that Slow Tortoise and Speedy Hare race. You know Nebraska being the Hare and Texas being the Tortoise. So how in the world did the Tortoise come out the winner??? Oh well miracles work in strange waysI guess :D

Actually I wasn't worried about a speedy NOA2. I want my wife to have the interview after we have been married for 2 years so she gets the IR-1 visa. But we're not far off, we'll be at our 2 year anniversary in 3 full months.

Yeah I'll still be around. I think of NVC sort of like what you had to do to get the I-130 petition together, only for NVC there's a big focus on the Beneficiary and even more data to gather and documentation to put together. There's still some waiting involved but not nearly as much waiting (for the lucky involved as the USCIS phase.

Also this parts new to me, haven't been through it before.

Looky: hopefully you can manage to get IR-1, it is painful going through removing condition process. Sometime people's cases are just denied because of very stupid reasons.

Yes we will get the IR-1. NVC lets you go as fast or as slow as you want, so if somebody wanted they could extend the process for a year.

Also after knowing her for nearly14 years I have no more patience after this for having to prove anything about our relationship! :ranting::D

Hi Fatigo, thank you very much! So I am curious whatever happened for your case, did you have some interview yet at the Ankara?

I don't know how that happened but we saw they can make mistakes! When I called the consulate to ask when they would contact me, they said '' since your case was approved, we can't give you K-3 visa.'' So there was a misunderstanding, a mistake. I was so surprised because my I-130 case was already approved, yeah. And Texas which I-129F case was sent told my husband that the case was closed. Very weird :D I was excited for nothing. Now I'm waiting for my case at NVC to complete. Best wishes to you! I hope everything goes easy for you and all of us :]

Hi Fatigo, oh sorry that they got you excited for nothing. I guess thats why VJ tends to say K-3 doesn't really work for I-130 anymore cause since K-3 gives you a Visa to wait for your I-130 to get processed. But its useless because the I-130 and K-3 gets processed nearly at the same time so there is nothing to wait for!

Anyway congratulations on getting approved, and now you will get a real interview at Ankara for the CR-1! Good luck!

I called the USCIS Customer support line today (Sunday) entered my case number and the recording told me basically that they got my case in December. Its just as if their system still thinks my case is still processing.

Call me a skeptic but I have reason to be paranoid about USCIS's ability to screw things up.

I'm going to call them again this week and get one of their 2nd tier officers and see what they can tell me about why I received the NOA2 hardcopy and their system say's my petition is still under processing?

No this was not call to NVC. This was call to USCIS and the USCIS case number that we've all had since NOA1. The USCIS support number is on the bottom of your NOA2. The USCIS status should say something like they approved the case.

If you call that number: 1-800-375-5283 click the number to access your case status. It will ask you to enter your USCIS case number (remember the one with the 3 letters in front and then 10 digits.

If you do that does it tell you that your case was approved?

i am sure it won't tell me anything but i still went ahead and emailed them since i want to change the applicant's name

if they reply back they would just tell me what i need to do for the name change

ideally i should be calling them after 2 weeks from the date my case was approved

You don't understand:

USCIS will not do anything for you after they have approved your case.

NVC can't do anything for you until they receive the case from USCIS.

The USCIS support line:1-800-375-5283 is only a recording on weekends and after hours. What I'm trying to find out is wether it tells anybody that got their NOA2 anything other than what it told me about my case.

I think it should tell people who got NOA2's that their case was approved.

That's ok, I could imagine, a nightmare scenario, that somehow they sent me the NOA2 by mistake and NVC forever saying they haven't received my case and USCIS saying its not our problem we already approved it!

looky: is that a bit over-imagined? Approval is approval.

Sometimes, they just do not update their system. A lot of people from a new service center will never receive/see anything online, they only receive hard copy of NOA by snail mail just like you. But it is anyway good to call them next week to verify, I believe each case should be carefully checked before any approval decision is made...
