Hi Ponjor, welcome, it seems like several of us have that same NOA1 date. Most of the ones you've seen on this thread that have been approved in less than 3 months are actually people living abroad and filing from there. Its actually DCF, direct consular filing, basically bypassing USCIS.

The processing times vary a little bit depending on which service center your petition was sent to. California was processing very fast but it looks like it has slowed down from that blazing speed. Nebraska seems to be getting faster and Texas is about 3 weeks behind.

In any case we should all be getting NOA2, 2 or 3+ months from now. Good Luck!

Oh, ok. That makes sense. I also noticed that California was fast but is now slowing down. Hopefully, we'll all be approved in the next 2-3 months. In the meantime, I'll focus on getting my I-601A waiver, AOS, and IV packages together to pass the time. And good luck to you!

If it helps, I saw someone from Nebraska with an October 29 filing date was approved yesterday. So they will be working on November soon.

My theory is that November and December will be smaller workloads due to Thanksgiving and the holidays (no one had time to put I-130s together and also the offices would have been closed for a few days) so they should process these months quicker, I think.

Thanks JFH, that does help! I'll stick with this theory whenever I'm looking at that 5 month USCIS processing time lol

I guess it depends on each case. There are some people filing at NSC by Oct 2015 and now were approved just few days ago while quite many other people also from the same NSC filing by Aug 2015 still heard nothing on their cases. Basically it will be more or less 5 months whoever gets it earlier, they jut got a good luck.

December filer here too, did anyone got NOA2 for December? Just wondering where they are.

Hi Whatsulife, well the answer is sort of yes and no. Most people here doing a IR1 / CR1 here have not gotten NOA2 yet. Where they are somewhat depends on what service center your petition was sent to. The 3 letters of your case number is a code for the service center. They say the average time to process it is abut 5 months. The "processing Times" tab could give you some sort of idea about what date NOA1s are currenttly being processed.

Good luck!

I think you may have read the section for I-129F. Its October 20 something for I-130. The texas center is a month behind that. 2 months or less if luck is on your side!

LookyWhatIFound, I have a quick question about the processing times. Under the processing times tab for CSC it says that they are currently processing December 11th I-130. Do we know how accurate that is or does it depend on how people update their timelines?

Also, does anybody now what the USCIS actually does while their looking at out packets? Is it just going through and seeing how much evidence we have and over what time period/

Looky might have a better answer but what I understand is the timeline on VJ is actually based on data from people here update their timeline so it is not very accurate as people normally are quite active updating their timeline when they just started as the wait time is just too long. When it moves to NVC and embassy they are not active anymore as they already know what to do next and not all of them update their timeline. I looked at some of the timelines of people who got visa approved, they only started with i-130 then there were no progress in their timeline until they got visa.

About what USCIS does is a good question, I actually want to know as well but I guess they basically have guidelines, all of the cases must score certain points in order to be approved: something like bona fide marriage.....

Thats what I thought as well. After NOA2, I lot of the information is left out until the visa.

Hopefully, USCIS is going through them relatively quickly and we'll all get out approval in the next couple of months :content:

Hi Ponjor, about the processing times its what Daylight and JFH said. I've checked my estimated approval times, at the bottom of my timeline, on several occasions mostly to see how bad it is, and the range they give you goes crazy. Also I've noticed on a lot of people who were approved their timeline has their NOA1date the same as the NOA2 date! :D

I'm not completely sure about the 'Historical Processing time graphs about each of the service centers. They seem to be more accurate. I don't know if at some points VJ can get info from USCIS on the service centers?

About what USCIS does with your petition. Well for a while it sits in a queue of petitions. There are several people working on the cases. The Cases they pull out are pulled on a first come first serve basis. Once one of them finally get to your case, they will check all your documents and your answers. If somethings are not right they will send an RFE to you for more evidence or to just correct something on one of your forms. Its not just about how much evidence you sent. Its about if all of it together paints an overall picture in their mind that your story fits with what they expect on an approved petition. They'll also do name checks.

If somewhere along the line they see some issues they need to resolve it may slow down your cases processing. That's my theory.

Oh yes! That range is crazy. Some days it will be early April to mid March and then other dayslate March to early June <_<

I'm praying I don't get an RFE or a I 130 interview. My lawyer said I might, because we sent the petition out right after we got married (we've been together for 5 years, so it just made sense to send it then). I believe we sent strong evidence that paints a strong picture, so hopefully we'll get approved soon!
