Dub42 - so funny cuz I was living that exact scene here last night at my computer til 3am! We, too, moved a bazillion times and I had to google half the addresses cuz I dind't remember them all. I wonder if we have you beat at a total of .... 16 addresses! Totally nuts! I hope we have become wiser in our old age now and will stay put in the city we plan to move to this year. So crazy to look back on it all. My husband and I were just sitting outside awhile ago chatting about all the moves - the why's, etc. Always dreaming of a better place, better situations, better clmate, better opportunities. But now we have a little boy so I think that's keeping us grounded more. Harder to pick up and move when you have a little one.

Also, I'm the USC and I haven't filed taxes since moving to Israel 7 years ago so you're wife is not alone. I'm sure immigration sees our situations all the time and I hope they'll be easy on us.

We are getting my parents to sponsor us, too, as I stay home with my son and my husband is an artist so no way do we meet the qualifications alone. I started filling out the I-864 for them and then did as much as I had to - then saved and messaged it to my mom. I hope she can carefully complete the rest. Then I will scan her the cover sheet we got in the mail.

And actually today I'm going to double check all the info I put on that long IV application just before we 'sign' it and submit it.

Nervous but excited energy!

Aww hey Blanche, so good to know someone else is in the same boat! I had to think so hard to remember all the places i have lived and companies i worked for (some no longer exist!) and then of course the times i went to america before (i had to check my old passports!). What an ordeal but im glad to have it submitted now :)

Im getting my mother in law to send me her tax information then I will submit my civil documents and then financial documents from my wife/mother in law altogether. :)

Hi there,

Is anyone still following this post?? Our case was transferred to Potomac on December 2nd, 2015.

I just called USCIS to get processing times, and they told me 6 months for Potomac! Grrrr

Adam and Steph

Hi Adam, yes there are at least 10 or so of us waiting NOA2s. Wow they transferred you to a center that there's no information about, that stinks! Yeah USCIS won't tell you anything about processing times, except to say wait 6 months. :bonk:

I thought they transfer cases to send them off to a place that has less of a case backlog. But you were transferred 2 months ago. So you are certainly due for your NOA2. Hopefully your NOA1 was close to your transfer date so you haven't been waiting forever?

You could try one other thing USCIS has 2 levels of operators, you could tell the first guy you are really confused and you need to talk to a tier 2 officer, those guys have access to a computer witch can check on your case. But then again I don't know if they would do it for you.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I will try to get in touch with a tier 2 officer when I call! i thought that was the go with Potomac as well but they probably transferred to many cases there? I'm sure the USCIS wouldn't do such a thing! haha

If you didn't ask for a change of address then its possible that they made a mistake. Somebody on here called USCIS and asked for a tier 2 officer and they were able to verify the address.

I thought the website allowed the person to access the address change form from overseas only it would not allow someone to use it more than once and they would have to wait a certain time before you can use it again.

But in any case that doesn't allow you to see your current address just to change it.

Also if the address they have on you is wrong the mail goes back to USCIS who will tell you the mail they sent you was undeliverable. Atleast that was the case for the peron on this thread.

Hope this helps.

We Called USCIS and informed them that we didn't request to change address; and they told us they will send us to 2nd tier of custumer service but unfortunately they have call back system and since we are calling from outside US our phone cannot be called back;

we ask Question about what if we ignor the document we recieved about changing address and they told us yes we can (i hope she is right); don't know when the case status will change in USCIS and i hope there will be no delay due to this document that mailed to us

one question

the beneficiary's name on the birth certificate is wrong so she made an affidavit for name change ( from India )

she lost the original affidavit , but she has a copy

I know for NVC they ask for the birth certificate as one of the document

we plan to submit the birth certificate copy and the affidavit copy now ( also include the school mark sheets as records for the correct name )

at the interview they will be asking us the original

what can we do at that time ?

or should we create all together a new affidavit and submit the copy to the NVC and then the original at the time of interview ?

This is too complicated for me. The name change is usually a government document right? So I don't understand why they would accept a personal affidavit for the name change.

But then again you are dealing with the US embassy Indian consulate so they are probably aware of screw ups of birh dates and names. So basically I have no clue. Its probably better to get responses from people who have dealt with the consulate in India.

If India can give her a corrected Birth certificate it would be ideal,

Good luck!

Hey guys! So listen to this: I told you that my husband also applied for K-3 visa. So we didn't hear from them at all! You know on 8. Feb our I-130 was approved. Since it's very expensive to call from Turkey I couldn't call. And since my husband is stubborn and busy he hasn't called either. He said it's better to wait for the welcome letter. Because the mail from USCIS says so. So yesterday my husband received a mail from NVC but no the welcome letter. The date is 26 Jan! And it says that NVC received my I-129 and says they will forward the case to the consulate. It can take several weeks for consulate to process etc. So what's going on......... :[ :|

Hi Fatigo, Its not necessary to receive the Welcome letter to get started. NVC can give you your case number and INN number for the envoice fee. I am not at that stage so I don't know the details but you can use that info to access the CEAC site which gives you the status of your case.

I don't believe there is some deadline that you have to worry about, at least for a year.

But you filed for K-3, I thought that allowed for you to wait in the US, so I think you would want to check on that so you can wait in the US with your husband.

Here's a link to some good VJ info on what you need to do for NVC:
