Fair enough. I don't believe medical care should be outright denied (seems inhumane) but there should be consequences for those who receive help when here illegally

As for funding I will never understand how it's possible to legally get wic while illegal

Lol true

No one says these criminals cant receive medical treatment in a jail house where they belong.

As for funding, much how the AOS loophole is exploited, so are other government benefit loopholes exploited the same way. As I said, what needs to be done is cancelling ALL care and benefits to anyone without proper legal documentation.

By making it more difficult to live in the USA, while offering no opportunities, eventually illegals will be forced to vacate back to their home countries. In which case, The USA should utilize all the money saved from caring for illegals to fly/ship them back home.

Most countries on the VWP are friendly with the USA, and is not really the problem. The immigration practices that need to be scrutinized or prohibited all together are as followed:

1. Changing status on ANY non-immigrant visa sans the K-1.

2. Citizenship by birth to non US citizens.

3. Taking in refugees from otherwise hostile countries.

In addition, government aid programs, healthcare and employment need to be denied to anyone without proper US citizenship or LPR documentation, and fine/imprison those entities that offer such benefits to illegals. We make it too easy for illegals to live here, which thereby increases the influx of illegal immigration ten-fold.

Sure, most countries are but not all of those countries' citizens. All but one of the Paris attackers had EU passports and just as easily could have done what they did in New York. That is why the VWP is being looked into (and they are looking to limit VWP privileges to anyone who has traveled to Iraq and Syria in the past 5 years, and to authorize the Secretary of State to add to that list as he/she sees fit).

The issue with the K1 is because that's how the San Bernardino attacker got here. But, K1s go through the same screening process as CR1s, the time difference is in the backlog for the green cards. If this bill even gets a hearing, no doubt USCIS/State will explain that. This category needs to exist principally for those folks who cannot get married abroad-- same sex relationships, divorced people, mixed religions (all of whom cannot get married in certain beneficiaries' countries). If they want to limit the K1 to only those folks, so be it. But then they need to get the wheels moving faster. The current state of affairs with the CR1s is an abomination. I'd be careful about accepting such a restriction, though, because who is to say that at some point in the future (perhaps if there is another tragedy but this time perpetrated by someone on a CR1 visa), the nation won't get up in arms over the "danger" of allowing in foreigners "so easily" and they institute a mandatory "you must be married for at least 2 years before applying or have resided together outside of the US for 1 year" type law? How many people here would be utterly screwed by such a thing? That is already the recommendation from right-wing anti-immigration spheres. And you give them an inch..... and then provide a very convenient excuse.....

What really needs to happen, with both visa categories, is a mandate for significantly more "face time". The fact that you can have an arranged marriage, fly to Saudi Arabia, meet the person once and either (a) don't get married legally, but apply for K1 or (b) marry immediately and apply for CR1 needs to stop. Same goes for the international dating sites. Great if you establish a real relationship through them. But those are *so* easy for some less than honorable people to treat like catalogs.... it just needs to be fixed.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3

05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"

wait, what does this mean? They will not issue k1 visas anymore? or the people who has already been issued a k1 visa will not be allowed to enter the country?

This congressman has proposed a bill that would stop the issuance of K1s and would tell Customs & BP to stop K1 visa holders from being permitted into the country. However, this bill has been sent to a House committee where there is a 99% chance it will die without any action taken on it. For it to become a law, it must first pass the committee and the both the Senate and House of Representatives before being signed by the President. It will either not pass committee (most likely), not pass the Senate or House, and wouldn't be signed by the current President. It is very frightening though that such a bill is even being considered, so K1 Visa holders and supporters should be vigilant and politically active. It can be as very little as spreading awareness and USCs writing their political representatives. I wouldn't worry too much about this one yet, but would be prepared to take action if it somehow got out of committee.

I agree the VWP risk is who can now get passports from VWP countries.

Exactly. This was inevitable, but it will end here, more likely than not. People who are really concerned need to do some research into the types of bills introduced after major tragedies, from both ends of the political spectrum a small both sides of the asile. If it gets out of committee, it would be time for action (but not worry) but honestly this would be cleared up in a hearing.
