Sort of interesting that the Congressmen would put forward such a bill just days after his wife passed away.

Someone who has lost a loved one and still feels it's acceptable to try and keep others from their loved ones confuses me.

I agree it will never get passed, but the fact that the sentiment exists at all in the minds of people kind of freaks me out..

If I've said it once I've said it several times this community on Visa Journey needs to mobalize, I know we are all going thru our process and its stressfull all that but really this community needs to mobalize, get some representation in DC and fight this stuff. This whole process needs to be changed/revamped but if people drop in and out and only focus on their cases this type of thing will continue to happen. Congress really does not care about this community, they don't understand the process and for alllllllll the visa people that go thru this system, none of the federal agencies or the Congress is held accountable for the American cititizens that are in this process. It only takes one bad apple to spoil the cart for everyone. Its finally happend and honestly its a real up hill battle at this point. I don't think this bill will go anywhere BUT I do think that the process will be reiviewed and I dont think it will be pretty.

I see 45% of people who have visited the site are in agreement with ending K1 visas. Yikes!

I'm honestly surprised and really disheartened with the amount of anti-immigrant sentiment I have seen on this site since I came on.

It seems like there are always people who resent the "other guys" who got into the country through different processes than their own.

For example people bashing the DV, or I have seen K-3/CR-1 visa applicants complaining about K-1 processing times being to quick claiming unmarried people should not have any sort of priority over them.

Everything I have been through so far has done nothing but grown my empathy for the struggles people have gone through to move to the US, sad that it has caused so many others to become bitter.

If you are going to limit visas then I do not think DV is a logical category and that they should be used elsewhere. I can not believe if the system was redesigned from scratch DV would be included. Originally it was called the Irish Visa, like much of US law it was set up to pander to a special interest group.

K3 is essentially defunct.

I came over on a K1, but being realistic how many of those currently going through the process would be up for such a campaign? The numbers on here are really tiny and most people move on once they have completed the process.

If anything its the VWP program that should be more scrutinized. I want this country secure and protected as anyone but a knee jerk reaction and trying introduce a bill to do away with the K-1 is a waste of time and effort , if anything implement a social media verification, I have no problem with that because if you are legit and have nothing to hide then your golden and shouldn't worry because if your posting on Facebook and twitter, etc then its fair game and if our Govt. wants to take a closer at who you are, oh well. Ok off my soapbox , lol too much coffee this morning...........

Most countries on the VWP are friendly with the USA, and is not really the problem. The immigration practices that need to be scrutinized or prohibited all together are as followed:

1. Changing status on ANY non-immigrant visa sans the K-1.

2. Citizenship by birth to non US citizens.

3. Taking in refugees from otherwise hostile countries.

In addition, government aid programs, healthcare and employment need to be denied to anyone without proper US citizenship or LPR documentation, and fine/imprison those entities that offer such benefits to illegals. We make it too easy for illegals to live here, which thereby increases the influx of illegal immigration ten-fold.

Don't get your knickers in a twist everybody!

Nothings going to happen for now at least. When someone introduces a new bill, it gets taken apart and changed, reworded and trimmed, parts added and parts deleted so IF anything would change it would not be for a long time especially with elections coming up. Only thing they could do now is give all visas an extra going over and slow it down some but not end the process. Remember were talking about our government who don't seem to have both ores in the water all the time.

I don't really get the k1 visa, we don't have anything like it in Canada. However we can immigrate common law couples who aren't legally married. But I'm not going to say get rid of it. Aos from a non immigrant visa can stay but for reasonable reasons like life or death (literally, say you're pregnant and visit and are put on bed rest suddenly, or perhaps a close family member passes away)

If any class was to be rid of I would say the f3/f4 personally.

I think they also take a VISA/Mastercard oath.

Absolutely. Doctors are not bound by the Hippocratic oath. Those doctors that do take an oath do so for moral and ethical reasons. But not every doctor swears an oath, and much like New Years resolutions, oaths are easily broken under a variety of circumstances, working for free namely one of them.

I broke my neck in my teens and the best neurosurgeon in the area would not see me unless we came up with $10,000 up front to even examine me. True story. So much for Hippocratic Oaths.

Fair enough. I don't believe medical care should be outright denied (seems inhumane) but there should be consequences for those who receive help when here illegally

As for funding I will never understand how it's possible to legally get wic while illegal

I think they also take a VISA/Mastercard oath.

Lol true

For the record the biggest source of fraud is the R visa.

I also think DV should be abolished and the visa's used elsewhere.

They did, in 2012....but then somehow onward went DV-2013..'14...'15...'16... and now instructions are available on line for the 2017 DV lottery

Lottery canceled...........

When I posted the link on my facebook (the bill to end K1) I was very surprised that two of my friends whose husbands came to the USA on a K1 in March 2014 were the first to comment that they absolutely agree, K1 should be scraped. Both of them had quite a lot to say about their disapproval of how many immigrants are entering the USA, etc, etc. My comment to them was simply.....This reminds me of one of my daycare kiddos with a lolly pop in her hand, telling the other kids, "You can't have one. Sugar is bad for you."
