H.R. 4274. A bill to prohibit the admission of K-1 nonimmigrants and to prohibit the issuance of K-1 visas, and for other purposes; to the Committee on the Judiciary.

Now, I don't think it will really go anywhere and the text is not yet available through the GPO. Just thought I would give a heads up.

There is no way that bill would pass it impedes on us as US citizens to have the freedom to marry who we want and imagine the monumental tasks of the claims in refunding monies to all of us that put into our effort here, filing fees legal fees , preparers, etc, don't blame the game, blame the player ! She had a hidden agenda and someone just dropped the ball along the way of that woman's process and probably took shortcuts they shouldn't and got burned by it , we lost some great human beings in SB because of it. If anything its the VWP program that should be more scrutinized. I want this country secure and protected as anyone but a knee jerk reaction and trying introduce a bill to do away with the K-1 is a waste of time and effort , if anything implement a social media verification, I have no problem with that because if you are legit and have nothing to hide then your golden and shouldn't worry because if your posting on Facebook and twitter, etc then its fair game and if our Govt. wants to take a closer at who you are, oh well. Ok off my soapbox , lol too much coffee this morning...........

This is not the first time that getting rid of the K-1 has been recommended - though previously it was because it was scene as the largest source of visa fraud. Can a bill like this pass? Probably not though one badly timed terrorist act with that bill just sitting there during an election year... That's how fringe bills get passed....

It is unlikely to pass but looking at current situations, you can't be so sure because since the San Bernadino shooting, the kind of ignorance been spewed by folks who don't have passports is beyond appalling.

It is most likely this bill will die in committee. Even if it made it through to the President's desk, I doubt it would be signed.

For the record the biggest source of fraud is the R visa.

I also think DV should be abolished and the visa's used elsewhere.

If the country goes by this one act to kill a Visa then why the heck didn't the Student visas get nixed after 9/11. Not saying it won;t pass.It could very well get hidden in some bill and it passes along. Isn't that how it works. Then the powers that be can see "See America we hear you".

What we need to do is be louder than the ignorant and voice not argue with ignorance but truly make our voice heard. Make our stand on Capital Hill we give testimony to the Senate committee. Flood every office in the White house every congressman, Senator with letters letting them know we are watching them and then educating them.

We have to stop "preaching to the choir" and let those decision makers know they are clueless but we will help bring them into the light.
