My fiancé's passport style photo is off by 1/8 of an inch from being 2x2. Actually, the 129f instructions doesn't necessarily state 2x2, it just says passport style. But I've seen the 2x2 requirement on other dept of state documents. Should I be concerned about this?? Please help!

I looked up details about this issue a few months ago because my image on my passport photo was larger than usual, but I can't find where I found the answers, sorry!

But, what is more important, I think, is the size of the image of the face, not the size of the actual paper photo. The face can't be too large or it won't fit on the visa. They say the face should be 'about' an inch from top of head to chin, but it can be up to 1 3/8 inch, something like that.

I'm don't think the actual size of the photo paper matters.

You shouldn't need to know the semantics. As long as she told whoever she went to to get the pic that it needed to be a passport photo & they said OK, it should be fine. Assuming that the place does passport pics, them saying OK would be indicative of the fact that they know what they're doing.

But here are the semantics: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/photos/photos.html

True. But I know different countries may have different specs for what they consider a passport style photo. That is why I wanted to make sure, so as not to get a RFE from USCIS.

Oh. My apologies. I was referring to a US passport.

It should probably be fine. Of course they could always send an RFE asking for a certain sized passport photo, but other people have sent photos that were not exactly 2x2 inches and were approved.

Our I-129F was just approved yesterday. I sent in passport photos that she had taken abroad and they were 2 inches high but less than 2 inches wide. I thought for sure we would get an RFE but we did not.

I think the reason is that they will require ANOTHER PP photo at the US embassy and that is the one that must fit correctly in the VISA which is then attached for formed to the passport.

So bottom line you can get another 2x2 now if you want just in case. Did you already send in the I-129F?

I haven't sent it yet. However, it will cost alot of money for him to express mail another one.
