Trying to Send Money

You can use remitly.com or xoom.com those are both reliable services to use. My wife uses xoom to send money home to her family and we have never had a problem. We are right now thinking about switching to remitly.com for the higher exchange rates.

I'm with Teddy K. I use my bank, Wells Fargo, $5.00 and 1 min later in my wife's account. We send family money and still use WF. I have used xoom had problems. Used Westernunion and had to raise my hands high in the sky was like getting held up but without a gun. Before using WF, I always had good luck with FASTCASH.

Lot's of opinions so I guess pick one and try it and see for yourself. Some offer your first transfer for free. So try those first and judge your experience.

I for one, am not going to spend an hour looking for the best deal, exchange rate or fees. I just want to sit down, pay a reasonable fee and be done with it. If they try to screw me then I am on to someone else. So far, 3 years with sending money via WF I have had not one problem that was there fault. My wife has to remind, "dear, did you push the submit button" just before she talks to her mom. Oye Vye Senior ides.

How do you do that? WF Bank to WF bank? Your recipient must have a WF atm? Or any local banks in PHL?

Another vote for Xoom. Exchange rate isn't always as high as Remitly, but for the most part, close enough and very convenient.

WF to BDO. Bring the BDO account number to your WF office to set the account. Then begin trf online. Gets to the account and access is within 30 min. Use you'd BDO ATM card to withdraw. When I need money and I'm in Phil I just trf it to the account. No need to carry or bring large amounts. Edited by Greenbaum

I will certainly give Xoom and Remedy a try next go around, but will try for deposit into her friend's bank account since physical location wise is not an option due to distance.

Yes, MoneyGram did not like my answers. Mostly because their questions were inaccurate. Having to drive down the road (gas money both ways) and having to pay a higher fee over that phone than if I could online, and that they hung up on me and refused to give me a supervisor, I am done with them. I sent the money needed and I am so done with them.

WU I never want to touch again. As for WF, well, let us say that I no longer use them as my bank since they stole $4000 from me. Yes, they did, just trust me.

I hate money, but it is needed because of everyone else. :ranting:

But I appreciate all the great suggestions, and laughs from some of you. Thank you.

Does your fiance live in a very remote part of a province? I ask this because you said that the physical location on that end is far away. Even for my wife and her family when we sent money to them using Xoom they have to go to the next town over to pick it up. So that ride is a 20 minute bus ride down the road.

I used WU for nearly 2 years without ANY problems after initial 'who am I' verification.

My asawa just started her association with them and again after several phone calls to verify authentication there have not been any issues. Initial problem was that she used the same phone # as I did and they detected 2 different clients using the same phone. I applaud them for their security.

The only problem with Western Union is that they are the most expensive in the country. If money is no object then by all means continue using Western Union.
